Your machine should have a lower front panel attached below the door. This would be a full width panel that goes from the floor up to almost the bottom of the door. Unplug the machine. Remove this panel with 3 or 4 screws. The pump is behind this panel, facing forward. The pump has a twist plug clean out. Use a shallow baking pan to catch the small amount of water that will come out of the pump when you open the twist plug. After cleaning the pump, assembly is the reverse of what you just did.

Good luck.

I have a whirlpool WFS1073CD and getting a red light indicator saying clean pump. It appears to be washing normally but wont go into the spin cycle. I have drained the water via the filter plug under

Hi Maureen
Wow.... at least this model has an indicator light telling you what the problem is. Many machines don't!
I think the reason it won't go into the spin cycle is that the water can't exit through the pump.
The usual cause is that a sock or something is caught or blocking the pump.
Power OFF of course.
Follow the drain hose back to the pump & try unclipping the hose off either side to feel for a blockage with your finger.
Pump blockage is a common occurrence in washing machines.
Good Luck

Our washing machine keeps coming up with a red

Fill the washer up put it in drain and lift the drain hose out of the stand pipe and look at the rate of flow,if the vault is clear the the flow will be strong if not take the pump apart again and see if something else did get caught or check your partial blockage . There is indirectly a relation between door and drain but after resetting to preset even no changes so sharply look to symptoms exactly what is happening, suspected thing i can say in ur machine maybe ur door safety switch is faulty close the door properly........... is that fully electronic instrumentation or electromechanical, and also you may take care of the door gasket while operating.Sometimes if there are things in the pump it can damage the pump so when it is cleaned out the pump is still damaged, if problem still persist you may need a new pump.

How do I clean the pump of My whirlpool wfs1073cd

Above solution is correct, check with your fingers for obstructions on the pipe that branches off to the left of the opening. Objects get caught here.

Bosch SHU43C installed in 2003

My Bosch SHU43C had the same exact problem. I found the below solution on this site. Perhaps you already seen it.

My SHU43C is just over 3 years old. I had a similar problem recently. First, there were a few floods. Then, the Bosch only drained non-stop. Even when I used the Cancel Drain buttons the drain pump would run without stopping. When I tried to run one of the cleaning cycles, no water entered the machine. Corrective: I removed the base plate, and saw that the red plastic floatation device was in the up position. Using a flashlight and a wooden spoon, I lightly toggled the red float stem down. I pushed regular clean cycle and kept toggling with the red float stem until the rinse water started to enter the machine (turning the red stem seems to also actuate a step in the program). Now the dishwasher runs normally. Voila!
