I've tried w/ Media Player, which is what I loaded w/ originally. Same computer, different computer, they won't delete. Tried formatting the c240, some songs came off, others didn't. One site said format through Settings; how do I do that? Will it help?
I tried to follow the instructions offered but Windows Media isn't showing all the songs that are on my player therefore I can't delete them as indicated.

In your windowsmedia you will see the device name listed..you have to make sure the device is under MTP mode..then click on the player and you will see all the songs...you can just right click on the songs and delete them..if you dont want the device to sync automatically you can click on sync and then click on the device name and click on sync setting..there you can modify if you want it to sync automatically.. Should you have any questions..let me know.. P.S.Please rate accordingly... Thank You Computerrep

I can't delete my songs. I have tried 4 different media player to delete and they all give me an error message. Failure to delete, not responding can't delete etc... What should I do? I have the pink ilo 1GB mp3 player
I realize this post is very old, so I'm commenting for posterity's sake. I don't have this particular model, but I had the same problem with my MMP8568. I couldn't delete pre-loaded tracks from WMP or manually from My Computer. The only thing that worked for me was reformatting my device and deleting everything off of it and starting over.
Basically, I went to My Computer and right-clicked on the icon corresponding to my MP3 player. I selected Format from the options and it deleted everything, from my own songs that I loaded to the pre-loaded content. Then, I resynched my music.
I tried EVERYTHING, and this was the only method that worked for me. :/
You could try rebuilding the directory. Just have to delete the old music folder and create a new one named the same thing. This worked for me.
Open the Insignia player directly into the harddrive on the player itself (look for the Insignia MP3 player icon in My Computers for XP when it is connected to the computer).
I think you should ask yourself these questions:
1) Are the song formats compatible with your MP3 player?
2) Is it possible that the website(s) you downloaded them from had/have given you faulty songs?
3) Am I smart enough to figure ot without PC Geek's help that I might need to try to download a different song on the same computer, the same songs on a different computer, or a different song on a different computer?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should have your solution.
did you try going into (if you have a windows pc) My Computer, and navigating to where your player is (your player should be hooked up to your pc via a usb cord - the one that came with your player). your player could be in a removable disk - mine is (J:), or it could be under Other (all of this is still in My Computer). Click on different removable disks if you have to, until you find the one that has your player. Once you have found your player, double click to go inside it. Inside of your player should be a list of folders. One of them should be named Music. It could also have a Playlists folder, an Audible folder, or a Pictures folder, etc. Click on the Music folder. You should see a folder of all of your songs, OR you will see your song files. Select the ones you want to delete, right click and select Delete, or drag the files to your recycle bin. Hope this helps!
I tried to follow the instructions offered but Windows Media isn't showing all the songs that are on my player therefore I can't delete them as indicated.
