Are these vertical lines colored or do they look like static lines? Also are these lines present even on the no-signal screen? It sounds like an LCD controller problem but first I would like to make sure that its not the video precessing board. So please provide this info.

If shaking fixes it, then you should check the connectors between the main A?V board(the large board with all the inputs) and the T-COn(LCD controller board that has two ribbon cables going into the screen). In about half the samsungs I have seen these boards are covered by a metal plate. So remove it if you have to.

    Ok. Good luck.

  • Anonymous Jan 30, 2011

Since you told me that the lines are not present on the no-signal screen, the problem seems to be the main audio/video board, which has all the video processing circuits. The part costs about 125$ and easy to replace. I would say you should go for it as I am 100% sure of the problem. Please get me the part number off the board so that I can find you a replacement.

You are most welcome. You already tipped me. Clicking on the accept button will credit the payment to my account. Be sure to wear an ESD wrist strap while replacing the board to avoid damage due to electrostatic discharge. You can get it at any store that sells electronic components for about 15$.

1 Before we start taking things apart, lets try your simple remove power plug routine and power system back up. Also, please try your unit on a few different channels to see if your problem continues on each channel. Your Main Board, Power Board, T-Control Board are suspected problems at this time. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, the unit should power down by itself after you have powered it on. If it does not, then do not be concerned. Let me know if the problem continues. The first link below will bring you directly to the troubleshooting guide if you need to continue forward with the same error. Brent, I suspect your main board is going out. Remove it first, then check for bulging capacitors, they will look different than the others. This is something that you may repair yourself.

It will be best to contact the authorized service center for Samsung in this case. They only can provide the component.

Over time, my 2007 Samsung LCD TV, model LNT4665F has developed random vertical pixel noise lines scattered throughout the screen. What could be causing this?

This TV is known for powersupply failures and this can be effecting the incoming voltages into the mainboard (AKA tuner board). This would cause the noise. Please have someone look into the powersupply and check that the proper voltages are coming from it. If they check out ok, you need to replace your mainboard.

Vertical line on screen

If it is under a warranty or extended warranty, you need to have it serviced. A vertical line means you have an entire column of dead pixels on your screen. If it is within the first year after purchase, then Samsung will cover it. I had to do this with a computer monitor, which these days is just a smaller version of a TV.

Our samsung flatscrenn lcd has sound but no picture just vertical lines through it. why an is it expensive to fix?

If you get the vertical lines from the top all the way down to the bottom of the screen, it can be two things: the LCD panel is bad (very expensive) or the LCD panel driver board.
