There may be a way to get to the audio and video without a remote by first pressing the menu button on the front of the set (if there is one), but the easiest fix is to invest in a good universal remote which will allow you to open the full TV menu. From the start up menu the remote will, after matching the code, allow you to go deeper into the start up menu to the audio/video menu and on to the "regular TV mode".

SOURCE: Can't find Comcast remote code for Magnavox television 15MF605/17

Not every remote will control every TV. You basically have 3 options. 1) Call Comcast and see if they have additional codes not listed on their website/documentation 2) Call Magnavox and see if they have additional codes that might work with your remote. 3) Buy a 3rd party remote that works with both your comcast box and your television.

Magnavox with pic tube tv skips over channel 3..goes from 2 to 4

You are right about the auto-programming, but Magnavox no longer has the original remote.

For my answer to be right, you must have posted this question to the EXACT CORRECT model # of your Magnavox TV - 27ms343s:

Press TV on your Verizon remote, and then press "0" and "3"

If that fails:
Press MENU to see the TV’s on-screen
menu. In the menu, use VOL.+/_ and
CH.+/_ to make adjustments or selections.
You can press MENU on either the
remote control or the front of the TV to
access or remove the menu.

Phillips Magnavox 9P6031 C101...

Find a universal remote with a menu and four arrow keys, b/c Philips is out of the original. Or, you could call Philips and find the number for one of their authorized centers - a TV repair man may have a stockpile of them from cust's who abandon their TVs.
