Programming feature access keys

Our phones have several buttons that I can't seem to program. I think these are dedicated as "feature access keys." When I press Feature > button, the display says "VACANT." The ones I can program (one touch keys) say "unused" when I do this. What is the difference? The manual says to program an feature access key, press Feature > redial > feature access key > desired feature access code. When I attempt this, I get "error" on the display. What I'm trying to do is to set these buttons to access voice mail, call forward, call forward cancel, and so forth. Two of the buttons are already programmed to "DND" and "MIC," but that was done before I got here. Thanks!

These Keys may be set as line keys instead of feature access or not tagged as "feature access" in the programming, also you can only have so many feature access keys... 8 comes to mind but I could be wrong, some features can be programmed permanently onto a button in the main programming so you can free up some more feature access (user programable) buttons.

Feature Button Not Working

Feature, Redial, press button to program, dial 1, dial the extension number, Feature to write and exit. ONLY IF the buttons are programmed as feature buttons, they may be just dead buttons, useless until they are assigned in system programming as feature buttons.

How to program the page button

Can you please be a little more specific? Are you referring to assigning the paging feature to a button on the phone or programming the actions the system performs when you press the existing paging button on the phone? Normally, when you press the predefined paging button on this phone the system prompts you to select where your paging output goes. Depending on how your system was set up it may ask you to select "set", meaning when you select this soft-key the system will sound a short alert tone through all of the speakers in all of the phones connected to the system then allow you to talk through all of the phone set speakers. The other option is to select a soft-key that directs the output of the paging to an external PA system that is connected to the NAM through a punchblock connection. You can usually also select "both" which directs the output through the phone sets and the PA system. I am not certain what, if any system programming might be involved - I am fairly certain that if your system has not been connected to a PA system the paging function is just available to output through the phone set speakers. If your phones have no buttons assigned to the page feature then you'll need to refer to the system programming procedures to find out which feature code is assigned to paging and then access it by pressing FEATURE + the paging code or assigning the paging feature code to an unused button.

Want to turn the DND off

Typically DND is turned on and off by pressing the FWD/DND button. There are three status conditions for this button indicated by the button light.
button light off: both features off(Forwarding and Do Not Disturb)
button light blinking red: Forwarding on
button light solid red: Do Not Disturb on

The functionality of this button can be customized by the phone system installer to work differently than outlined above. Station features can also be accessed through station programming using the LCD screen by pressing the button then either scrolling through the features using the LCD screen navigation keys or entering the specific program number as in 50 for FWD/DND programming.
