Tecumseh 5hp Engine Snow King Mtd Blowers Lh195sp67517 Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 27, 2011

I have a Tecumseh 5 hp engine on my snowblower. I ran the snowblower last night for 45 minutes with no problems, I then shut it down for about an hour and It would not start back up. It spits a little bit on choke or with the primer depressed a few times. I am getting spark from the plug, and it is wet with gas. I drained the old gas out of the carburetor, checked the gas lines, and let it sit for a while, still will not fire up. I took the carb off the engine, cleaned it, and tried that, still nothing. I do not know why it would run and then not run less then an hour later. Thanks for any help. Casey

Try changing the plug may not be getting enough spark to start

  • Anonymous Feb 11, 2011

many possibilities, I fought long with our tecumseh, here only some thoughts, maybe one helps?
    1. wet sparkplug? gets too much gas - push less primer and check if the choke is really in the position you want it to be. In our T the choke has to really be put off and make it stay off.
    2. fresh gas or old? clean the gas tank? old gas gets ...bad
    3. tunings of the carburettor screws on position?
    4. Water in the system somewhere? Our T is older and doesnt have the "box" outside the carburettor and always when snow flies to the carb, it started to "stop"
    Wish you luck and enthusiasism!

Toro snowthrower coil condensor points

If you have changed sparkplug and coil and cleaned flywheel, you probably have a kill wire problem. Disconnect kill wire from coil and try again.

If the crank sensor is failing, you should get a check engine light and a trouble code for it.
Have you had the computer checked for trouble codes ?
