When I turn on the tv on picture ,blinking screen, power switch blinks green constantly
Yes, he means 2200 microfarret (called uf from here on out). Another important concern when buying a replacement is the voltage. You need to get something that is at least 25v. I recommend a 35v or better. Another notable point is that this may not always fix the problem. As with mine, there was also a 1200uf (microfarret) 35v capacitor that was blown. You can tell this because they bulge at the top. I have both of these caps (2200uf 35v and 1200uf 35v) on order and they will be here tomorrow. If I do not post back here then they fixed the issue for me. I suspect that this will resolve the problem. Look for bulges on top of the caps. This is an indication that they are blown. Most all of you experiancing these symptoms will see the 2200uf cap bulging but you may also see others bulging too. If you do then you need to replace those too. No electrolitic capacitor should be bulging at the top so if its bulging its bad, and if its bad then your tv will definitely not work. Have fun.
It is the capacitor. Magnavox installed a power system that is insufficient. All you need to fix the problem is a 2200 watt capacitor that is heat resistant up to 150 degrees. I bought mine at radioshack for 4 bucks. My friend spent five minutes installing the new piece and now my t.v.is fine...Good luck everyone!!! -Zach p.s. the hardest part is unscrewing everything but the actual fix is simple...
The word is Farad, not farret, and it's a name, so it's capitalized. A cap isn't mmeasured in Watts, zjustice, and they're electrolytic. I appreciate that you guys try to do your own repairs, but please try to learn and use the right terminology.

when I turn on the tv on ,blinking , power switch blinks green constantly
I noticed shortly after purchasing this tv, (37MF23ID/37)periodically it will shut off and back on again on its own. At first i thought maybe i had a sleep timer set. It also has cut on in the middle of the night. It is becoming more and more frequent. What can I do to fix this problem?
I have the same problem....when i turn on the tv, green light blinks and blinks and blinks....then turns off.....after about 5-10 minutes can finally get the set on.
Yup, exact same problem.
someone wrote in about a piece of hardware at radioshack that can fix this problem...Anyone know the details on that? I have the 42 inch magnavox and have the blinking light/ powering up problem...Thanks-zach
O.K... Please help. I have a mag. #37mf23id/37 it is a 42" flatscreen. My friend said that he is capable of fixing it based on what I had read about the radio shack power part. The problem is a green flashing light when you attempt to turn it on. The tv flashes a fe times andusually turns on after the third or fourth attempt but I fear the problem is degenerative. PLEASE if anyone knows who fixed the set with the radio shack part reply so I dont have to buy a new set. I remember reading a success story! I will buy a correct responce a steak or 6 pack or...WHATEVER-thanks z
Can anyone point to a diagram or description of WHICH capacitor needs replacement?
I have the same problem, and have a question about the cure. Â Do you mean a 2200 MICROFARAD capacitor? Â That was all I could find at the electronics store. Â They had no capacitors rated 2200 Watts.
I hope to open my Magnavox 37" this weekend and poke around. Â I will report back if the fix with a 2200 microfarad capacitor works. Â I bought it at Radio Shack, but only know a little bit about electronics, such as capacitors store electric charges! Â (So watch out for shocks from an open tv chassis!)
Opened my Mgnavox 37" lcd tv today. Â It is not obvious which capacitor to replace. Â The instructions give no hint. Â There is a 180 mf component that could be a candidate, as it is near the power supply, but only a tv expert would know. Â Don't try this fix without help from a trained tv expert or knowledgeable amateur. Â The suggested fix is therefore inappropriate for most people because it overstates the simplicity of the cure for novices and may even contain a mistake in describing the capacitor. Â I'd like more help, including a picture to know what to swap, and an answer to my earlier question about how the 2200 ?? capacitor is identified. Â Thanks for any help someone can offer.
Getting warmer! Â The 180mf capacitor, the black cap labelled as such on the circuit board containing and close to the Magnavox's three prong male electric plug, is made by CapXon. Â I then found critical reviews of this companies capacitors at http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.... and at http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.... . Â
So it may not be that the capacitors were of the wrong size but of inferior grade.
My flat screen viera tv's power light is blinking Unplugged and still not working Any tips or help
We are having the same issue with out tv. Won't come on, green light just steady blinking. Replaced capacitors even though they didn't appear to be bulging. Didn't work, then replaced the whole board that the capacitors are on.....still doing the same thing. What would be the next try?
