Question about Planar PR3010 DLP Projector

Open Question

I have a Planar PR3010 DLP projector. The problem I have is that the picture that is projected will sometimes shimmer. The white and the yellow are very distorted. They seem to be very bright. I turn off the projector and then turn it on after doing that for 3 or 4 times the picture often times comes up normal. This does not happen all the time. Sometimes it "works itself out" and sometimes after two hours it is the same. Any suggestions?

Vivtek d510 projector has black and white spots covering 1/3 of projected image

The DLP Chip is failing .The DLP or Digital Light Projection Chip contains up to 8 million tiny microscopic mirrors that tilt to project a digital image onto the screen. These mirrors are failing causing light and dark spots to appear.Unfortunately fixing this projector is probably going to cost more than buying a new one. Hope this helps.

The background projects as yellow instead of white. Everything has a yellow tinge to it.

It sounds like one of the polarisers has failed, on experience they cost £300 each to replace, and there are 3 of them. I recently bought an NEC NP115 for just over £200, very good spec for the cost. It maybe worth investing in a new one.

Hope I was helpful for you.

Dlp projection, keeps switching to standby, also sometimes will start up and the picture goes blank but the sound remains

The lamp may be out. Projectors need high voltage/wattage lamps. They tend to only last 2000 hours or so, which is about a year or two with normal use.

LCD projector 101, your blue device is dying inside of projector. Consider purchasing a dlp based product, they do not suffer from color decay.

Really you are blessed , most lcds last about 3-4000 hours or 4 lamp changes. good luck
