Dell pc giving blue screen -issue with recent Windows update?

Hi-

I have gotten some blue screen error messages on my Dell Desktop at home.

It was after the last automatic windows update, so I did a full back up and a system restore to the day before the windows update. Update was 7/9 (a malicious software detector or something), so I did a restore as of 7/7.

Have you heard any issues with recent windows updates? I turned off the Windows Auto update feature for now.

    Thanks, Mohammed.

I did a system restore to the date before the first time I got the blue screen message which was the same day of the last windows update, which I noted just in case it happened again.

So, the system restore should have taken care of the issue and I should turn the Auto Updates back on, then?

I also backed up all the files and settings.

    Thanks,

    SJ

Dear SherriJ:

Some time you might get this issues with the updates if they doesn't install properly or the computer turns off while instaiing updates.

However you can select last known good configuration of restore you computer to earlier time.

I would recommend you to keep the automatic updates on that will help you keep your computer in a good state.

Regards,

Mohammed

My dell comes on but it doesn't go to windows it goes to an error screen what do I do?

What is the error? Is it a blue screen or some other type of issue? Did you recently change some hardware driver or OS setting?

What OS do you have installed - this is very important if you downloaded Microsoft updates in the past few days on a computer with XP. There was an issue with a patch and it has to be rolled back. The symptom of this issue is the blue screen with the message "Page_Fault_In_NonPaged_Area" The solution is detailed at: http://www.krebsonsecurity.com/2010/02/new-patches-cause-bsod-for-some-windows-xp-users/ . Microsoft will offer free phone support at 1-866-PCSAFETY and has an alternate fix here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979682

Other errors can often be dealt with by rolling back with system restore (carefully - you can lose other drivers).

I hope this helps.

Dell Inspiron 531 gets me crazy..

hello, sounds like memory issue, I would say if you have more than one stick of memory in it remove one at a time and try it again.
also while you are at it reset BIOS by remove battery from motherboard and/or switching jumper setting.

hope it helps.

When I turn on Dell Inspiration 1525 laptop. after 2 minute it appear blue screen error and then restart the system.

As soon as you see your "wallpaper" on the Windows desktop, click Start.
Point to My Computer.
Click with the SECOND (usually the RIGHT) mouse-button on My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click Advanced.
Below Startup and Recover, click Settings.
Click to remove Automatically Restart.
Click OK.

Now, the next time that you see the "Blue Screen Of Death", what message _stays_ on the screen? Write it down. On another computer, do a Google-search for that string, and read what others have done when they have gotten the same error-message.

Blue Screen Error Message

Looks like you've been getting two different Stop errors...

The 1st error, 0X00000024, aka Stop 0x24, is a Windows 2000 error. (XP is just an updated version of 2000) Microsoft gives an explanation here.

For the 2nd error, starting with 0x000000ED, Microsoft's solution is here, with additional help here.

Computer crashed

that is a memory dump, try to remember what hardware or software did you install or uninstalled recently, if you can log-in on windows try uninstalling or reinstalling the hardware or the software. if it fails, run the windows recovery on the cd and repair the windows installation.
