The waffle maker has two lights. A red one which indicates te power is on and a green one which lights up when it reaches the desired heat (and the thermostat circuit opens and the device stops heating for a bit). The green light never comes on ! Now the wafflemaker gets VERY VERY HOT. I unplugged it. Let it cool down - but the same thing happens. The green light never comes on.

There seems to be a problem with your thermostat or temp cutout switch if the machine is getting exceptionally hot. This could explain the green light not coming on.

How do i open the waffle maker?

If it's the rotating type, it only opens when it's rotated in the correct orientation. The side with both Red and Green lights must be facing up. Simply rotate the handle to make these lights face upwards, and lift the handle up, which lifts only the top half of the waffle maker. If this doesn't work, it's probably defective.

Why is my Mickey Mouse Waffle Maker 5555-02 cooking hotter than normal?

The top of your waffle maker has an indicator on the top that shows when the heating coils are on. It should go out when the iron reaches the correct temperature. If it does not go out it may mean that the contacts are stuck and that it is dangerous.

I have a green light and a red. what do they mean?

Red means that it has power. Green means the heating element is on. The green light will cycle on and off as the thermostat controls the temperature. Allow the iron to heat til the green light goes off before adding batter. Watch for steam coming from the iron. When the steam stops the waffle should be done. Keep track of the time that it takes to cook. Experiment with cooking time for the best results.

I lost the instructions for my sunbeam waffle maker, and I dont know how long Ihave to bake it.

Here is a direct link to the User's Manual for your appliance:

To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 2 of the manual for detailed operating instructions. Basically they read as follows:

Preparing Waffles

1. Close Waffle Maker and plug into outlet. Use only voltage specified on bottom of Waffle Maker. The Power light (Red) and Ready light (Green) will come on.
Caution: Touch Waffle Maker only by handles during use or directly after use. Take care not to touch hot surfaces.

2. The Waffle Maker is ready for initial use when the Ready (green) light goes out (approximately 2-4 minutes).

3. Open Waffle Maker, pour approximately 3/4 cup waffle batter onto grids. For best results, pour batter around outer edge of waffle maker. Close cover. It is very typical to have a small amount of batter run over grid and down Waffle Maker. However, if an excessive amount of batter runs over, use less batter.

4. Close the Waffle Maker by lowering the upper plate onto the lower plate and secure with the safety latch. Do not open cover while steam is escaping. Most waffles bake in approximately 2-4 minutes, depending on personal taste. Waffles are generally done when the Ready light (green) goes out and when steam no longer escapes from sides and front of Waffle Maker.

5. When waffles are done, remove with a fork or wooden tongs. Note: Be careful you do not scratch the non-stick cooking surface.

6. Close cover and wait for Ready light to go out before preparing another batch of waffles. The next waffle may be baked in less time because the plate will store heat.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

The unit light goes on but it does not heat. Therefore, we cannot make waffles.

Actually, I was able to contact the service center and Waring and was pleased to find out it was still under warranty. They are replacing it for us.

Waring Waffle Maker no heat

Remove 4 Black Phillips Screws 2 on the front near the handle that flips Use a Good fitting Screwdriver These screws have a thread locker on them. They will strip the heads out if proper care is not used when removing them. Then remove the two screws at the rear of the Iron Just rear of the cooking surface. This will remove the chrome cover on the bottom of the cooking surface exposing the wiring. The thermal fuse is located under a section of insulation under a clamp held in by another Phillips screw.Do not cut or Damage the insulation. Gently pull it back exposing the fuse. After replacing the fuse, insulation ,Clamp and screws check to be sure the iron heats and cycles on and off and the ready light works properly. If it does not cycle the new fuse will blow . Good luck

Power light does lid up when connect

Most appliances that work with heat, are equipped with a thermal fuse so if the thermostat fails, the fuse opens and prevents a fire.  Unfortunately, the thermal fuses are more unreliable than the devices they 'protect' and are exceedingly difficult to find. Since yours is a widely known brand, you might try their website.

No heat on brand new Waring WMK300 waffle maker

Lots of appliance makers include a 1 800 number with the paperwork that comes with an appliance.

I would try to find that number and call them. They owe you a replacement unit. If you can't find the number do a Google search for Waring and they should have a tel number and/or a "contact us" place to send and email.

Good luck Loringh

No heat

It will initialy take some time to heat, but if it doesnt become hot in 3min or so.. then make sure voltage is properly fed and also check for any switches or reset button. If all this doesnt work then it means the heating coil inside wud have been cut or fused.

Thankyou
