Hi i just purchased a Toshiba R705-p40. My issue = it will not connect or even detect my n network. i have another computer on the same network and it detects and connects just fine. now i dont have any problems connecting to my g network. I went into device manager, network adapter, Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter, properties, advanced, and i clicked on AdHoc 11n and enable it but nothing happens. i don`t know what else to do. hope you can help thank you.

Hi,

If your laptop has a software that manages your wireless connection, uninstall it. Then go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center, then click on Manage Wireless Connections then remove all wireless networks that are saved there then restart your computer then try to connect again to the wireless network.

Well SHUCKS ~ if it's NEW, turn it in for a WARRANTY repair!

They should also install the latest and greatest updates while they are at it too.

And one thing almost for sure ~ things won't get better unless you do.

In fairness I must add that MICROSOFT OFTEN offers "optional updates" from vendors now and then too.

Use the computer you are on to download the updated driver for the network adapter from the Toshiba Website. After you have the updated driver install it on the computer your having a problem on. Reboot the computer. If the problem is still there and you have a cable connected to the network connection and to the router, uninstall the network adapter from the device manager and reboot the computer. That should detect and install the adapter and resolve the problem. If it doesn't there is a problem with the network adapter and you will need to use the wireless of get a PCMCIA card to use for networking. Toshiba does use a replaceable Network card in some laptops, if nothing else above works and you don't want to get another card to plug in you may want to look into purchasing a new card from Toshiba to replace the old one.

Ok, if your using Vista, what i want you to do is right click "computer" select "manage" and then "device manager", then click on the + sign next to "network adapters" and right click on the wireless network and "un-install" the device, reboot the PC and wait for windows to detect the wireless card and install the drivers for it, this will appear in the system tray (bottom right hand side) when its done try to connect again

Hi, Some models of Toshiba Laptops have a slide switch either on the side or front to physically activate the built-in Wifi. Some models also will not work with some models of Access Points if using the built-in Windows Wireless Configuration Utility. A workaround is to install the Wireless Configuration Utility of the WiFi manufacturer. If your Toshiba is using the Atheros WiFi chipset, you may need to install the Atheros 802.11a/b/g Wifi Client utility to use rather than than that pf Windows. The file name is atheros_wpa_client.exe and you can just Google it. Hope this be of some help. Post back how things stand or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
