We have a Juniper netscreen 5GT and our speed varies sometimes slowing to unusable pace. There is no pattern to it, BT our ISP tests the line and says its ok, the router is plugged straight in to the test socket. It may slow 2 or 3 times a day and then benefits from a switch off reboot - then it can be ok for 3 or 4 days. We have changed filters Any ideas?

Connect a PC to the router either by wireless or wired connection (You need a standard ethernet cable to do this connected to port 1) and then open a web browser. In the browser go to 192.168.0.1 and enter 'Admin' as the username and leave the password field blank (default settings) (If you have changed the password and username, you can use the new ones or if you forgot, you can press the router reset button for default confirmation to return). On the Network Settings tab, turn off 'Enable DNS Relay', This is actually the easiest way to disabled the NAT. Once you disabled it, you can use your router as a Network Bridge. The trick is to disabled the WAN feature which is the normal function that the router does during NAT OR DNS. If none of this information is helpful, why not try calling their technical support, I've had nothing but (relatively) good experiences with them. The phone number in the US is 877-453-5465

Please follow the posted information to remove NAT from you network. Based on the information provided, it appears that NAT is a bottleneck on your network causing the loss in bandwidth, and intermittent disconnects.

I want to block facebook for all the lan users.

Setup a proxy server and black list facebook.com that is the easiest way. Route all users to the proxy server and set premissions that does not let them change the proxy settings.

How to block all IM chatting s/w on my NS-5GT

This harder then you may think.

If you only have a 5GT FW to use to block this.
Then your best bet would be to figure out the network blocks for the Chat networks...simply block all traffic to these IP's.
