You can purchase a usb Ethernet adapter that plugs into the side of your laptop. You could buy a wireless card that could fit into your computers card slot.
If you mean that you don't have Ethernet in your home you could go wireless and use whatever free access you might find. Check out an electronics store for improvised attachments. Many types are available.
Only one wireless is able to go online. What is the Ip address on the computer which goes online / Is it public or private ? Check the DHCP server on the router is enabled. You will need to access the router set up. Click Here to know more about the routers
Check the manufacturer's website for the default access to the router configuration (maybe "admin" and "password") but I think the newer transmitters come wirth the wifi disabled out of the box and you need to configure it before you can use it.
If someone else configured it for you you'll have to do a factory reset and reconfigure the whole thing over again..
