no - unfortunately "any mechanic" does not have the training to troubleshoot an alarm system, and a dealership does not work on anything aftermarket.
Your best bet is to visit DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.) website and find an authorized dealer near you... most likely a car audio shop.
Best Buy usually hires newbies as installers and they dont have much experience... Look for an independant shop.

The brain module cannot be repaired - the ignition and starter relays are integrated on the controller board. Since it is 2 years old - there may not be a replacement part available.
Good Luck!!

SOURCE: viper works but remote start and keyless entry does not
On the remote start part, it might be as simple as relearning the tach. To do this, crank the car with the key, press and hold the valet switch until the led lights and stays solid now release.Try the remote start. Need to know what kind of car to comment on doorlocks.
SOURCE: Viper 690XV Installing with INT-SL Data interface module
The number 2 pin on my cars OBD II is the data carrier which is then connected to the purple wire of the INT-SL Data Interface Module.
Data Interface Modules are becoming the standard for alarms and remote starter installations. These modules will make installations 75% faster and more accurate. I also recommend using Posi Taps to tap into your OBD II.
This a safe and 100% effective reversible method of connecting wires without crimping, cutting, or soldering. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a line or simply Google: "Posi Taps" by posi products. For Interface modules Google: "INT-SL". Good luck with your next installation. And remember the has endless resources providing you take time out to research them.
By the way my Viper install was a sucess.
Best regards,
Rico

First things first. Check the fuse that powers your alarm system. If that seems to be ok then try the next simple option. Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable. Then turn the ignition to the start position for approximately three minutes. This will allow for any remaining energy to dissipate from your system. Now you can reconnect the negative cable. *** Before trying your alarm *** turn the ignition on and off 3 times quickly. Make sure you don't start the vehicle. Now you can exit the vehicle and try your alarm. FYI you can always stop at a nearby Best Buy store for additional assistance. They are usually very helpful. Good luck and best regards, Rico...
