Hi.
F2 indicates that there is a defrost problem. For this reason, if you turn off and defrost the fridge manually, the unit will work for a while after doing defrost.
You said that you replaced temperature sensor. What is called temperature sensor is different from the defrost thermostat, which is one of the parts involved in the fault.
If there is no defrost cycle, or if defrost is insufficient, problem is usually the defrost thermostat. The thermostat is located behind the freezer section rear wall, where the evaporator resides. To access it you need to remove frozen food and undo screws holding the back panel. The thermostat is a metal cylinder shaped object connected to two wires and clipped to the evaporator. The thermostat can be tested using a multimeter set on impedance. If reading impedance at room temp. on the thermostat contacts is infinity (circuit open),then the thermostat must be replaced. In the same way is tested the defrost heater. Check also that evaporator fan is starting.
If parts in the evaporator section are working, then the problem can be the defrost timer, which starts the defrost once every 8 hours.
Here how thermostat looks like. In same page read also the repair instructions from other users.
Regards.
Ginko.
Hi.
I have some update on the specific model. To start this model has two separate evaporator for fridge and freezer. Since F2 in dual evaporator models means "Fridge Evaporator Temperature sensor", ensure that you have replaced the thermostat in the fridge, rather than in the freezer.
In Miele and Liebherr units the thermostat looks like a plastic cylinder bound to a wire.
Here the part FRIDGE EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR MI...
If you have already replaced the same part (check part number), test the rest of the evaporator system, starting from the fridge evaporator. If you have replaced a different temperature sensor, purchase and replace the part indicated above.
I uploaded the PDF documents with the exploded view below. Click on the picture, then click again to enlarge.

I do not have access to Liebherr or Miele service manual, here a Kenmore service manual that shows how to use a multimeter to test evaporator parts . Check evaporator section.
Check near to the upper coil and fan. I think it is pt47 in diagram. Check also pt.11.

Hi Ginko
I have removed the back panel as you suggest but I cannot find the thermostat. Do you have any idea where on the KFN8462S it is located ?

Hi Ginko
Thanks for your reply and the info contained therein. You say that there are two thermostat sensors, one for the freezer and one for the fridge. I did change the one in the freezer. That is the only one that I can find. There is nothing in the fridge section. There are no removable panels in the fridge. Yet in the freezer the sensor is obvious, situated at the back of the freezer section, although one has to remove the back panel in order to feed the sensor out of the back of the unit to replace it. If there is a second one for the fridge, how do I locate it?
