Run iTunes, connect your iPod, make sure iTunes reads your player and click Check for Updates, if there is an update it will update.

You can also uninstall iTunes, go to apple website and re-download iTunes = this will give you iTunes 11.

How can i update my ipod touch to 3.1 software version? How to download itune 9?

To update your ipod simply plug it into your computer then click on the main tab with the name of your ipod on it and you will see a large update button in the middle of the screen. To download itunes 9 go to http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=48 and follow the steps there. If you want the most current version of itunes which is 10.3.1, open itunes and click "help", "check for updates", then simply follow the steps.

My ipod a1137 is showing data but i am not able to play the song

Hi, your ipod displaying data and not playing might be because you did not transfer the music properly or the format of the music does not play on an ipod.

You will need a converter to help you convert songs into an ipod format. Download from the below link:

effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/

You can follow the instruction below to know how to transfer music into an ipod.::

Most common problem for new ipod user is how to put music onto ipod. So I created this ipod tips to solve this problem. Windows media player is not able to upload songs to ipod. You must use Apple iTunes to get music onto your iPod. Windows Media Player can see the iPod as a hard disk. But not able to copy upload music from pc to ipod.

The steps to put music onto an Apple iPod with itune.
When you plug ipod to your pc first time through USB, you might get this pop up message. If you have already installed itune .

You need to restart your computer to install ipod and then the next time you start up, your iPod will not generate any messages of this nature.
You need to install itune on your computer if you have not installed itune. You can simply go to apple.com/itunes to download the latest version. It also comes with ipod CD.
The next step is to launch the iTunes program. And it will recognize the ipod that you have plugged in

It shows one message to give name to ipod, You can stick with the default name for your device or give name to ipod.
I also uncheck "automatically update music" because I like to control what happens to my iPod manually.
When you're done with this configuration step, click "Next" :
register your iPod, or just click "Finish".

Step 1

Now, finally, you can see iTunes and also your ipod inside your itune:
Click on whatever name you've given to your own iPod, and you'll see your music list, which is completely blank:

Now click on the "Library" link on the left column and you'll see what albums or music you've copied into your iTunes library. Or click on the "Browse" button on the top right (it looks like an all-seeing eye) and a new panel will show up with lists of songs, artists and albums.

Now select the song you want to put on to your ipod. then dragging and dropping that onto the name of the iPod on the left side panel of your itune. Now your song are copied to ipod.

Hope it helped.
Feel free to pass your comment.

Good luck..

Formated ipod

You need to do a restore.

How to restore iPod
  1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
  2. Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
  3. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
  4. After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
  5. Select your iPod in the Source panel and you will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
  6. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
    • Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
    • Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
    • Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
    • Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software available.
  7. If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.
  8. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
    • Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    • Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
  9. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
  10. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
