PS3 will not play blue RayWell after a year of research It has been discovered that there is a problem with the design some may even say that Sony has designed this player to fail after so many hours of use.It is odd that everyone who calls for help from Sony with units that cannot Play blue ray get the same answer 200.00 bucks please, The guy even was bold enough to say he knew what it was and could fix it 200.00 PLEASE It is a major issue and Sony is well aware of the failure Because it was part of there game all along .I have over 1000.00 in blue ray movies and you can bet I will not be replacing this machine or buying any more Sony product. I am going to try and set up a class action suit and show that Sony all along manipulated the public and is manipulating us to this day with there PS3 players!!!!!!! and products that have built in soft ware to fail at certain times or events. How do I know you ask .........work for Sony:)

You have an array of problems over there. You need more help than I can give you here:

For the disc's that aren't reading:

This is the 2nd most common problem with PS3's. This isn't a bad problem. Your laser/lens will need to be replaced. Do you see the time clock in the top right corner going around and around? If so, you are just having laser/lens problems. If you do not see the time icon spinning when you insert a disc, your PS3's Blu Ray drive controller board has gone bad and you will need to send it to Sony and not a

3rd party technician. Certain problems are only repairable by Sony. Good luck. There are many videos on youtube if you would like to do it yourself (I would advise you not to). I recommend that you find a technician who has experience. There are many things that can go wrong.

The downloaded games not playing and returning to the PS3 sign - I blame your hard drive. If you decide to change it:

When you replace your hard drive, you will need to have the latest firmware on a

usb stick. Download the firmware from the playstation official website onto a usb

stick. Once prompted by your system you will need to insert the usb stick into the

PS3. Good luck..

You will need 2.5" Sata Hard Drive.

For the controller:

There is a little pin sized hole on the back of the controller. Find a safety pin (or similar) and press and hold this button for a few seconds. Plug the usb cable back into the controller and to the system and this should solve your syncing problem. If not, then you are facing a sever motherboard meltdown..

Every playstation 3 will eventually die and become totally unresponsive, even after repair(s)

Good luck.

When i put a disc in the disc icon doesnt show up and i have already tried cleaning it but that didnt work how do i fix it?

The Playstation 3 is a wonderful video game console, however, with heavy usage, the laser does eventually burn out. The first signs of the laser starting to burn out is that your game will start freezing during game play. Eventually the game will stop reading altogether (even though movies sometimes still work). Eventually movies will stop working and the whole laser will eventually die.

The following website sells PS3 lasers and also performs repairs:

My playstation doesnt read video games anymore!! It can still play Blu-Ray and i can still play games i downloaded of the playstation network store BUT any videogame disc i put in the PS3 it cant read. is...

Unfortunately this is a disk drive failure, and usually can only be fixed by sending it into sony for repairs. There may be some local shops that say that they can fix it, but honestly Sony's service is always the best.

Sorry to hear about your problem, but hope you can get it fixed soon!

My playstation wont how tha disk wen i put

question did you update the firmware for the PlayStation? if so their is a potential that you patched the unit and can not longer play some files this way. a precaution taken by psp already to stop downloads of home brew and emulated media.

Everytime i try to play a game online, it doesnt work

What game are you trying to play? Even though the time goes up its been my experience that the download is still going on, even if the status bar seems like its stuck. A couple of games I play, like Socom confrontation signs you out of the PSN but your connection is still up to download the patch. It will sign you back in as soon as it installs it. I know the MAG beta has been notorious for this also. Are you having this happen on every game you try? Disc based versions? Are the games your trying to play multiplayer? Try unhooking your ps3 from its internet connection.. do you still get that error?
Im really curious to know if you were able to get it going or not, Ill be checking fixya here all day so if you have any more questions please post back. ill reply

Playstation 3 wont read some cds or play downloaded demos.

I'm also having this problem as well, it has to do with the OS and it is corrupted. It seems like the "Game mode" has been corrupted preventing us from playing games on the hard drive or reading games.
