I have a Speedstreams 5200 E242 modem. Installation stuck after modem connection. Is the 4.2.2.122 driver Windows 7 compatible? Where can I download the good driver for Win 7?

The software u are using might be out date,tries to upgrade the latest version of the software.Or the modem u are using might not be compatible with the Window 7 software.U might have to replaced and upgrade the modem itseft.

Open the cd drive in windows explorer and right click the installer. Click the "compatibility" tab and in the Compatibility mode tab, check the box and select windows vista from the dropdown menu. Click OK and try to install the driver again. If this dosent work, modems are incredibly cheap, you would probably be better off just buying a new one.

Old modems are usually not compatible with the newer operating system like Windows 7 because there are no compatible drivers for them.

Best thing is to get a new modem with is compatible with your OS.

The RCA DCW615R is a cable modem and provides Internet signal to the connected computer. Windows 7 simply uses that signal and the Internet information from your provider to give your computer access to the Internet.
Reset the modem and turn off the computer until after the modem has been fully reset.

first thing is check to see if the program is compatible with Windows 7 ?
secondly did you check to see if your model of laptop is compatible with windows 7 ?

the kernels have changed on windows 7 and may not let some programs run on 7,this is to provide better protection for the pc users and to stop hackers and viruss and unwanted things etc,you still need to set up some form of protection for your self tho

Go to the manufactuers site for the modem drivers
check the compatibility of w7 while your there too..

Try to install the same driver for Windows xp
in windows 7 in Compatibility Mode

For running in Compatibility Mode in windows 7
Right Click the app and select the properties
select the Compatibility Tab
select the os =windows xp sp3
and dont forget ti tick "Run ad Administrator"

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))

Download the manual from the link and review page 7 for ethernet connection.

Notice particularly the back of the device. There are four connection points to plug things in the one on the left with DSL is where cable with the phone connectors connects the phone jack to the speedstream 5200. On the right the round connector with the pin is where the power goes. Next to the power connector to the left is a USB connector. In between usb connector and the DSL port is an ethernet connector. One way to avoid the need for the USB software os to use the ethernet connector bu connecting an ethenet cable (wider connector that fits snugly in both ports one on the Speadstream 5200 and the other probably present on your computer.
