SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player Logo
Posted on Jul 17, 2008

Write protect I just bought a sandisc 2G SD card. When I tried to copy music from my Mp3 player or from my computer, I got a message telling me to remove the write protection. How do I remove it so I can copy music onto the SD card (that is the reason I bought it after allght )? I have bought other brands of SD cards and all I had to do was stick it in the computer and download.

The Sansa e260 can only use microSD cards. I believe the 4GB model can only handle the 1 or 2 GB cards. If you try to do any SDHC ones, then you may run into problems. I suggest right clicking the SD card on your computer screen after it pops up. Select Properties. There can be some help in this area. I suggest going to tools, and check for error problems.

Go to start menu, my computer and leave that window open.

Then go to start menu, my music and leave that window open

Then you can drag songs from music straight to SD card.

Right click on your mp3 file, go to properties, Make sure read only is NOT checked.
TIP: You can copy all files by clicking the first file, then hold the SHIFT key, and then lastly clicking the last file. Then all files will be highlighted.

Nextar GPS

I would recommend taking out the SD card that is located on the side of the GPS. Using an SD card adapter, you can transfer music and pictures with Windows explorer.

Transferring music from pc to mass storage device.

Hi,

You said that you checkd the properties of all the 150 tracks right.

150 tracks is 560 MB.

The error message you are getting informs that there is nothing wrong with the player or something.

This eror rfers that the source file cannot be located by the system to transfer or the source file is corrupted.

Try the other source file.

Try transferring the other newly downloaded file.

Hope it helps.

Good Luck.

Transferring MP3 files from PC "C" drive "My Music" folder to SD card

you may want to try downloading only those that didn't download the first time. Sometimes when you try to download a large file (all the songs) it causes the "error message" you talk about. You may want to delete files already downloaded, or save the files downloaded to a different file folder, and try the download again.

Sansa e260 won't let me download certain music

If you used Windows Media Player to "rip" (copy) the music to your computer. The default settings are to "copy protect my music" if you didnt change this setting, the Sansa will want a "license" to go with it. Resolution, change the setting in Windows Media Player, Tools>Options>Rip Music (uncheck copy protect my music). You can also change the default rip setting to Mp3, as opposed to Windows Media Audio. Then you would have to re-rip the tracks to your PC, as unprotected. Make sure you delete the old tracks from the device, otherwise, it will always give you that error message. Best of Luck.
