Update the webcam driver in your computer. You can get the crystal eye driver from the website of acer. But if you would like to cover all drivers in your computer then you can use RadarSync scan so that you will know which drivers are outdated. Keeping them updated would fix the issues.

If the webcam is built into the screen area (I'm guessing it is), then it's likely that it became disconnected while it was being worked on and needs to be reconnected. Take it back to the store and ask a technician to inspect the netbook to make sure that the webcam is connected.

you have to use the driver cd which came along with your device and install them and this will install the driver for your capture device and your hardware will be detected.

Certain models have are shipped with Acer Crystal Eye Webcam software which enables webcam at boot. I do nto know if it is installed in your netbook.
To test the webcam running Windows XP, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Start, All Programs, then Windows Movie Maker.
2. On the left side, click the link for Capture from video device.
3. Select Next throughout the set up, making any file name changes or setting changes if desired.
4. On the Capture Video screen, click on the Start Capture button
5. You will see the video on the right with a time count up
6. When you are done click the Finish button
7. Click the play button on the video clip, or drag the clip to the Storyboard below.

Click Capture Device on the video page and then select the source you are using
for your video input. There is a choice between "S-video" and "Composite."
To capture a video clip, you then need to click the red record button in the
onscreen controls.
The destination folder can be set from the "Settings" menu.
Clicking on Advanced and selecting Settings allows you to set the quality of the
video captured. You can choose from "Good," "Better" or "Best." Selecting a

u can not record video with ur orbi cam bcoz ur acer software doesnt support it if u want to capture video from ur webcam u can capture it thru other video cap softwares like Ulead dvd movie factory, or nero vision or cyber link power producer u can select ur webcam there in capture device list u can also google for any video cap utility that is free

The best solution: Buy a good computer with a webcam or a simple webcam. The best thing to do is not to buy the Acer 5315-2326
