Could be a bad remote. turn the TV on and then take the batteries out of the remote to see if it shuts off. If not, you know that the remote is bad or the batteries are low. I would suspect the power supply next.
My RH265 has had this fault three times and on each occasion LG have replaced the 815V DVD Deck (Part No. EAZ34934813) - This fault seems to be common to all their recorders and in my view gives LG an otherwise undeserved very bad name for product reliability. I am very surprised that they do not appear to have solved the problem with a reliable component.
Could be the dvd player/lens. The player sucks up dust through the player's caddy and after a while it won't read discs anymore. A cd cleaner or a good (gently dosed) blow with compressed air might help.
