How much should I thin paint for pneumatc sprayer?

you did not mention what paint, you did not mention what sprayer.

remember, if you use solvent - opacity of the paint is sacrified, tints are less visible, metallic require more clear coverage.

for water based paints - except airbrush, usually no thinning is required, but you need to first stir it well (at least 3min on manual or 1min 30sec if mechanical stirer is used) strain it, i am using old stockings for that purpose in single layer, works very well for me and if nozzle is above 1.4mm up to 2.8mm there is no problem whatsoever. if this is splatter paint (nozzle 4.5mm or greater) do not even think about thinning it...

for acrylic - if nozzle is between 0.8mm and 2.8mm, procedure as above and you need to add specific thinner, usually up to 20% albeit in some cases up to 40% per volume) so paint will be about like ight cooking oil - water.

for oil paints and enamels - solvent should be not more than 20%, albeit you can increase it up to 40% in rare circumstances, if you are using hvlp gun, you can, if you yousing hp gun - no! it will disperse too much.

for two packs and urethanes - not more than 20% better keep between 5% and 10%

for latex - in rare circumstances you are allowed to use very, VERY specific solvent, and ususally not more than 10%, nozzle usually is 8mm or greater in these paints.

I have Graco Gmax 5900 Airless paint sprayer Gas Powered with gun & hose. It is spraying alright but started making a loud kinda of a grinding noise when spraying. Any ideas on what problem may be,...

As I have only just seen your question, maybe you have fixed the problem? If not, this GMax sprayer has an electric clutch to control when it is pumping or not, so there could be 2 sources of the problem: The first is that when the clutch is closed, some part is touching something inside the housing. The other possibility is that one of the bearings has gone dry or a gear has a damaged tooth.

If its not fixed, the drive assembly needs to be opened up and the parts cheked

390 graco airless spray painter manual

Go to Graco's website at www.graco.com/us/en.html. Under the customer Care tab you can look for Instruction Manuals. Search on your model number and you'll get a list of files that refer to your model. Usually the manual and/or parts breakdown are in the first two or three files.

Graco Magnum XR5 electric airless sprayer won't start

It could be something as simple as you have the pressure turned down so low it won't appear to be working try to turn the pressure up and see what happens.
The worst thing could be you did not clean the sprayer out properly and now the paint has dried and the shaft is frozen to the packings and the other internal parts of the your sprayer.

Graco magnum paint sprayer won't prime

Airless won't prime- I always start trouble shooting an Airless that won't build/hold pressure look at sump hose inlet filter (the hose that goes into the paint if its got paint debris on it clean off filter and pour the paint thru a strainer bag into a clean 5 gal bucket-also remove the filter housing on the spayer and clean and flush and replace filter and housing- the shaft or the metal sleave has two ball bearings called "check balls" that maybe stuck turn on sprayer and put a piece of wood on shaft and give it a few good taps this will knock the check balls loose if after all this fails then you need to have new packings put in becuase the old ones are worn this is pretty easy to see because the rod the compresses the paint will have signs of paint on it indicating that the packings are worn.. Note keep rod and other moving parts oiled ith graco throat seal and finally Graco sprayers with the X on them are there (Graco) home owner line of sprayers that sell at home depot they are rated for only a certain amount of Gal per year keep it in good condition and cleaned store with coro-check inside of the pump when you are done using it.....
