It's implying you have a shorted speaker wire.

Error code F61

Hi there, Have you checked the unit for dust or dirt, sometimes things like that can cause components to stop working, things like cooling fans can be adversely affected by dust and dirt. It sounds like the cooling fan inside the amplifier unit - clear out as much dust or dirt as you can find and hopefully this should fix the problem, but if the problem persists then the short described in the manual (which I have researched) will most likely be related to the cooling fan and it's power supply - it may be safer to send it to Panasonic for repairs at this point - especially when it comes to electrical faults. Hope this helps.

Kind regards..

At power on, displays F61 code and switches off

F61 is an error code.
It will automatically shuts down your unit.
This is very common on your unit.

Try to checked if the fan is working or not.
I have repaired some unit before, this is the caused why f61 appeared.
The symptom is shutting down the unit after a few minute.
If the fan is not working it will shuts off automatically to avoid further damaged to your output I.C. from overheating.

If confirmed that the fan is working then I've suspect that your output I.C./pre-amplifier circuit is faulty.
This is quit technical and need to send to repair shop to isolate the faulty parts.
The output IC of your unit is RSN series and quite expensive.

Pls rate my help.

Panasonic home theater sa-ht920

Although the Panasonic Home Theater systems are great when they work properly. If your machine displays the "f61" error message, it's likely to be little more than a paper weight for the average person. The inner workings of the machine are rather complex to disassemble for diagnostics. And can take several hours to check all the components. The best advice I can give you is to sell the machine on e-bay as a broken item. If you offer shipping you can get more money for a complete system (speakers & all).

Error Message

The F61 indicates a problem detected in the output amp stage and the unit us shutdown to prevent further damage. If you can supply the model number, I can give you the part required and the approximate cost.

Panasonic stereo SA-PM28 displays fault code F61 then switches off

Hi dearnley1

The error code your unit is presenting relates to either a speaker cabling fault or a fault speaker. Sometimes, it is neither, and may be a fault inside the unit. Needless to say the unit is in protection moe to prevent more damage occurring. Check you speaker wiring for any short circuits or frayed wires. If all appears to be ok, disconnect the wires from the unit and see if it turns on and stays on then. If it still presents f61 with speakers and cable disconnected, then I am afraid that you may need to take the unit to a Kenwood service center near to you for an inspection . Good luck

F61 error

I had the same problem, and I had to replace the fan on the unit. The fan would not turn on at all, so the computer would tell the unit to turn itself off. After the fan was replaced (which is relatively simple) it works like new.
