How can I check what plugins are loaded in my Firefox Browser ?

Download the most popular plugins from the addons website

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7

Not sure that you have the correct plugin OR its not upto date then check this link and it will tell you remember not all plugins are dervived for XPI add-ons like the Microsoft Silverlight Plugin and the DivX Web Player

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/

Another great way to find out what plugins that are loaded into Firefox is to use the my config option in the Mr. Tech Toolkit add-on you may want to check the show descriptions + filename in the options menu to display the DLL file and Version info.

Examples of Popular Plugins

ADOBE DOWNLOAD MANAGER FOR FIREFOX XPI
This will download the Adobe Reader and other large files unless you have a download manager installed like IDM one of the fastest on the web, if this is the case don't install Adobe DLM
ADOBE SHOCKWAVE SLIM
This will install shockwave for director plugin
GARMIN COMMUNICATOR PLUGIN FOR FIREFOX EXE
This will enable your Garmin SatNav to communicate with Firefox
WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER PLUGIN FOR FIREFOX EXE
To add wmv content to be played in Firefox

I have wasted 4 hours with 1 of your so called (experts) i want answers not excuses

Don't know if I can help or not, but this what I do.
I've downloaded the DIVx player and converter software (free) to my computer. I can download mpeg, avi movies, etc, and convert them to DIVx format if I need to. The DIVx player has a 'burn' feature that is fast and burns them in a DIVx format. My old DVD Recorder will not play DIVx format but my 'cheap' Phillips will. I just keep it hooked up to my old DVD recorder through the front RCA input jacks. When I want to play a DIVx movie and watch it on the TV, I use the cheap Phillips player. I have to change the input on my old DVD Recorder to 'Front Input. I usually record the movie on a DVD R in my DVD Recorder while I'm watching it if I want to keep a copy to play later on the DVD Recorder. Most of the time, I burn the movies to RW DVD and erase them later.

I don't remember the web site for the DIVx players and converters, but you should be able to find it with a search.

Hope this helps.

How can i play AVI files on my media center/player on vista

Hi,
Windows Vista Media Center won’t play Xvid and Avi files, even if Windows Media Player will play these files. If you want to add support for third party codecs including Xvid and Avi files in Vista Media Center then you need to install the media control plugin for Windows Vista Media Center.
To install the Codec please click on the below link or copy the URL and paste it in your web browser..
http://damienbt.free.fr/index.php#download
This plugin allows Windows Vista Media Center to utilize te FFDShow decoder, which needs to be installed seperately ((FFDShow rev 1108 recommended: download the last version from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow-tryout)) FFDShow adds support to Vista for MPEG-4 video formats like DivX, Xvid, H.264 and also alllows MP3, AAC, Dolby AC3, and OGG Vorbis audio files to be played back.
have any other queries, please let me know..
Thank you.....

Every time I try to download a video from the internet it shows a download plugin icon and I can't watch the video

Hello Brianwalkup i must say your problem is a minor one and that you must not worry for it will be fixed in a couple of seconds. now with this problem i need to know what web browser your using. I am using mozilla firefox and im asuming your using internet explorer but if your not il be able to help you right away. if your using mozilla firefox you need to install a reliable plugin, one that supports most video`s but remmember most doesnt mean all. so the first one i recommend is divx web player and can be found at www.divx.com/divx/windows/webplayer/ and the second one is adobe flash player, now you can be familiar with this one but i recommend that you get it. it can be found at www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ now those are the two players i trust they also act as plugins so you need not to worry. I also recommend that you get both of them so they can work at the same time. now your PC might not tell you this but you must restart it after installing both of them. Ive only tried them on mozilla firefox and not on internet explorer so its against my advice that you try them. but if you feel you need to go ahead. hope i helped bye! OH and if you need more assistance just write back to this post and i will help!

Placing films onto the 504

I have put plenty of DVDs onto my Archos, but I use the optional cradle which connect to the TV as well as DVD players. You simply connect the DVD player onto it and play your dvd, which switching on the Recorder function on your unit.

Alternatively, can you convert the DVD onto your PC and then transfer onto the Archos in normal fashion, or is this what you are saying you tried to do already?
