Shuts down automatically with red light

Hi,

After using our Mitsubishi DLP TV for about 2.5 years, this morning suddenly it shuts down. If I turn it ON, first green light appears, then it flashes for a while, after that it shuts down and a red light appears.

What could be the reason? Do I need to change any light inside? Unfortunately my guarantee from Mitsubishi is over. Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for your help.

I pressed menu (as there is no button called 'device) from front panel for 8 secs and then the red light goes away. It doesn't give any two digit code. After that if i try to turn on the tv, it is showing the same green light and followed by a red light.

    Any more suggestion?

my unit is about the same age and the exact same issues happened this evening. i tried holding the buttons for 8 seconds and no code was displayed. have you confirmed it is only a lamp? i did purchase the extended warranty, but of course i cannot locate the paperwork. please comment how you fixed your unit (do it yourself or take it to a tv repair) thank you!

I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE RED LIGHT INDICATOR FLASHING A CONSTANT RED. I TOOK OFF THE PANEL AND CHECKED THE LAMP WHICH WAS FUNCTIONAL. I LET THE TV REST AND POWRED IT BACK ON AND STILL THE RED LIGHT INDICATOR STILL SHOWS. I REPLACED THE BULB ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THE TV JUST RECENTLY STARTING HAVING THE RED LIGHT INDICATOR ON FOR SERVICE. IM SO FRUSTRATED WITH MITSUBISHI BECAUSE THIS IS THE SECOND TV I HAD TO REPLACE DUE TO MALFUNCTIONS.

I have a mitsubishi wd-52327. Power light come on then a loud vibrating sound for a few seconds then after a pause it does it one more time then red light. I did the input and menu button for 8 seconds and got a code of 12 (no error detected check power supply). In my research I found a site called www.nodevice.com and downloaded a misubishi service manual for 9.95 euro.it has the error codes. for the person looking for error code of 44, it says (dvi cable between fmt and engine disconnected) Any suggestions appreciated. Lamp has been changed.

Push device and Menu in on the front panel together and hold for 8 seconds and see if the led blinks a two digit code. As it may be the lamp or quite possibly the Power PWB capacitors if it blink a 3 4 code.

Some models have a input button instead of device,If yours has input. Press input and menu both in together for 8 seconds.

As long as a error code didnt come up, youre most likely only need a new lamp.

Fan noise running when tv is on

Mitsubishi rear projection DLP keeps turning off and shutting down. The red light then turns on for a while and then turns off. TV can be turned on again and works fine until a random shutdown occurs again. No fault codes are stored. No blink codes. No airflow warning messages. The original thermal sensor was replaced 8-1/2 years ago. Fans are completely clean and running smoothly. I fixed this problem by replacing the 8.5-year-old thermal sensor. The problem is gone. Mitsubishi thermal sensor part number 299P313010A. Manufacturer part number YS11A95B-C6. Do not use the connector plug. Strip the wires, and hard wire and solder the 2 connections. This might also apply to these models: WD-52631, WD-57731, WD-57732, WD-65732, WD-57831, WD-65831, WD-Y57, WD-Y65

73" Mitsubishi DLP. turned on the tv and got only sound, no picture. after a minute it would shut down and red light would pop on the front. replaced bulb and hooked it back up. now it turns on but af

Try cleaning the little fans that keep the bulb cool, the temp sensor will shut it off so not to damage the bulb , the winning sound may be the fan going bad or not working like it should.

Hi, have you replaced the lamp after 2-3 yrs of usage? The lamps used by mitsubishi tend to last around 4000 hrs 1-3 yrs.It is common for the green light to light up.Other common failures are the ballast which is the board that powers the lamp. Also check if its not overheatin, dust out the fans.Heres where u can get the lamp or ballast http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=wd-52631
