On Monday 14th July, after turning my Sagem on, there was
an on screen message advising of a download available to improve DTV. It said
press OK to download or exit and that downloading would only take a few minutes. I pressed OK and two zeros and
two flashing dashes appeared on the Sagem and it started making a 'whirring' noise. It has been like that ever since, even after unplugging from the mains - it still comes back with the same display. There is no response to the remote control
I left it plugged in while watching a DVD for about 90 min (as Sagem and DVD are all connected up with the TV). Afterwards I noticed the Sagem was now displaying Er09. I tried pressing the green button on remote control to activate the Sagem and hey presto everything came back on (with a message saying that the download was now complete). All back to normal now. I think the 00 and flashing dashes just meant that the Sagem was downloading and that this took longer than the specified ' few minutes'. Not sure what the 'improved DTV' was though - I can't see the difference!
THANKS DENISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i had same problem Er 09 nd after reading your post i pressed 0 on the remote and the Er 09 dissapeared and the think started up! WOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!
CHEERS!!!!!!!!!
The biggest problem is not to be able to record a channel. what i find is after about a week if i try to record live or timed recording it does not work. but if i pull the plug and let it start up, no joy. instead i need to reset to factory settings. this is fine, but then you got to rescan the channels and start all over again.
as far as i an concerned, this is the biggest piece of poo i have ever bought and since trying to get on the site is like sqeezing blood from a stone, then all i will do is buy another and when that is set up, i will just smash the damn thing and never buy another sagem item.
this is not the only thing that sagem has had the audacity to throw out at people. i had a broadban modem. i had a good time putting the hammer into that and as far as i am concerned, Sagem is not worth buying.
a fault with 2 items means dont bother. find another named item. this item works, but i would not depend my life on it at all.
dont bother. if it comes up, why fix something that works. if you have problems, throw the thing away. the last update froze half the buttons and killed my recording. and i mean killed.
but the update took an hour, an hour, how slow is that, a windows download is slow, this is like waiting for paint to dry, actually i got paint that does dries quicker.
This model does take an hour to set up. but be warned. this is an item i would never buy again and would advise anyone to go buy another make, that is until they respond with some kind of answer to this problem. It was a thrown together piece of poo.
Now i will buy something else and be warned, this is rubbish to say the least, and then give no back up if problems do come to light.
If all the companies read these reports, perhap they would make something that could work for a few years, and i mean that.
i have had various freeview units. i waited till i could get one for £20 before going for a dear one.
imagine paying £150 which they were to find that all this comes up and rears its ugly head.

Hi sel999
my sagem has version 0.4.7 I think it came out in July 2008. there was supposed to be another update november 2008 - but my machine didn't lift it (0.8.9 MH).
This web site tells you which manufacturer & model is broadcasting an update & when: http://www.dtg.org.uk/retailer/download_schedule.pl
Does anyone know if 0.4.5 is the latest firmware for the Sagem 7280T?
