With the X1 plugged in, look at the white volume control box (on the main cable about a foot down from the headset). Is the LED on that box lit up green or red? If yes, then it's got power. If not, then the headset is defective and you should contact Turtle Beach about it.

If the light is lit, then you might want to try testing the X1 with an iPod or other portable music player that has a 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack.
- Plug the X1 USB plug into a USB port on a PC, Xbox or whatever.
- Plug the X1 green plug into the headphone jack on your player.
- Turn the volume up about 1/2 way on the player and on the X1.
- Play a track on the player.
Do you hear sound? If so, your X1 is OK, but you may need to adjust settings on your Xbox. If not, then you have a problem with the X1 and you should contact Turtle Beach about getting it replaced or fixed.
