I did just replace the bulb of course. Funny but when we 1st got the TV I occassionally noticed very slight blue like this in the corner. Not sure if that was a known isseu. TV is 4 years old so for $420 I may as well buy a new TV. Thanks for your help!

Suppose I could put on Craig's list to try and get a couple of bucks for it. Not sure if it's even worth anything.

The screen could bring you as much as $200.00 itself, and Boards sell them seprate also.
In case you might want to call this company and ask if they rebuilt the B block Assy and how much?PTS 1-800-844-7871 sometimes they are alot cheaper to have it rebuilt.

  • andrew_be170 Jan 21, 2011

FYI, I called PTS. None in stock to sell. $238.38 to rebuild. They call it a QBox Assembly. PTS says they are swamped right now, 14 days to fix.

  • andrew_be170 Jan 21, 2011

waffling right now. Saw another thread were folks with similar isseus were able ot get Sony to give the ma great dela on a LED TV to replace, like $300 for a new TV. SO, may consider that.

Thanks again for all your help!!!!

I think this is a projection set. Sonys are called SXRD type lcd projection . Little diff from DLP types. But they do have a lamp. Unplug set plug back in then turn on . Count blink code. Check lamp also. blink code is 2 digit code. Code will give clue to failure.

Sony KDF-E42A10 rear projection TV. Won't turn on.

Start by changing the lamp. If you got 5 years out of the old one, count your blessings, most folks only get three. The lamp is designed to be replaced by the consumer. Ebay will carry a replacement for you or you can get it directly from rivervalleyelectronics.net. They've got good prices. The lamp door is on the back. Its really easy, give it a shot.

Hello BruceD,

What you may have is a magnetism problem. I would suggest that you try deguassing the CRTs first before looking into replacing the CRTs. You can have a TV technician perform this for about $50.00 - $60.00.

Thank you,
