Did you try opening the sound properties page in the control panel...look for the recording tab in sound properties..here you will find sliders for the inputs on the sound card(as for recording)..you may need to set these up also to make everything work properly...there also should be a sound mixer built in to windowsthat you can access by clicking the speaker icon on lower right side of screen(if you have icons enabled)..right click this to open and when you get to the mixer there should be a tab at the top for advanced controls..here you will find the recording controls..make sure the input is turned up and make sure the input in not muted..there should be a box for mute and it should not be check marked

I have a samson c01u and using audacity. i set the input level in the control panel to 100 and also in audacity, but the the volume is still too low. i can barely hear my voice. what do i do?

1. Did you select Left channel only in Audacity for the track you're recording?
2. Maybe it's a defective mic. Try it on another computer/software/USB cable/USB port and if it still doesn't work get Samson to replace it.

Samson C01U USB mic not working on my PC.

try this;

1.using different usb inputs on your pc desk top
2.update drivers on both your desk top and laptop
3.using a different usb cable

if it works fine on your friends computer most likely its not the mic

SAMSON CO1U recordings sound like they're underwater on my MAC

The behavior you describe suggests that the mic is not getting power. Since it is a condenser mic, it requires what is usually called "phantom power". This should be provided thru the USB port. Check to be sure that the USB port is supplying that power. Check with another port for example. If that fails, you may have a defective mic.

Keep us posted.

SAMSON CO1U USB MIC FAILURE

Your first issue is vista... it just sucks. I would have to be there to figure this one out but im going to state the obvious, does it have an installation cd you didnt use? does it have online drivers you can find? Try looking around in your control panel and messing around with some of the options, good luck.

Problem with Samson CO1U

Here are some instructions relayed from someone who was able to fix a similar problme with help from Samson tech support:

The C01U is a WAV device. Therefore, adjusting the slider for your default MIC input level on the volume control applet does not adjust the gain on the C01U. You access the actual volume control for the C01U as follows:

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices
Click on Audio tab.

Under "Sound Recording", insure that Default Device is selected as Samson C01U.

Once Samson C01U is selected as Default Recording Device, click on the Volume button just below the name. A new window will pop up, with a vertical slider. This window will be labelled "WAVE IN", however it actually does control the MIC volume for the C01U.

The key here seems to be that the USB device that represents the Microphone input (as far as Windows is concerned) is not a traditional microphone, but (as mentioned above) a WAV-IN device.
