Checking the ink levels

  1. Open the HP Director .
  2. Click Settings , point to Print Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox .
  3. After the Printer Toolbox opens, click the Estimated Ink Level tab.
  4. For information on obtaining replacement cartridges, click Print Cartridge Ordering Information .
Replacing the print cartridges
  1. Make sure the HP all-in-one is on. WARNING: If the HP all-in-one is off when the print-carriage access door is lifted to access the print cartridges, the HP all-in-one will not release the cartridges for changing. Damage may occur to the HP all-in-one if the print cartridges are not docked safely on the right side when you try to remove them.
  2. Open the print-carriage access door by lifting from the front center of the device, until the door locks into place. The print carriage is on the far right side of the HP all-in-one. How to change the ink cartridge - c00228292.jpg 1 - Print carriage access door 2 - Print carriage
  3. When the print carriage is idle and silent, press down on the end of each cartridge to snap it out of the carriage. If replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the left.   4. Gently pull the print cartridge toward you, out of its slot.
  5. If removing the black print cartridge to install the photo or gray photo print cartridge, store the black print cartridge in the print cartridge protector.
  6. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab. CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.   7. Slide the new print cartridge forward into the empty slot. Push the print cartridge forward until it clicks into place. If the print cartridge you are installing has a white triangle on its label, slide the print cartridge into the slot on the left. The label for the slot is green with a solid white triangle on it. If the print cartridge you are installing has a white square or a white pentagon on its label, slide the print cartridge into the slot on the right. first know the parts.

Tear open the black ink cartridge bag at the notch and remove the ink cartridge.
IMPORTANT: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent any drying of the ink.

Hello ,

Start by opening your ink cover and read the LCD screen; this will alert you as to which ink cartridge is not being recognized; make sure the cartridge that it is telling you is empty has been changed.

If the unit is still not recognizing the cartridge you have changed, follow the steps below.

  1. Unplug the power cord for the printer unit.
  2. Open the ink cartridge cover and remove all ink cartridges.
  3. Close the ink cartridge cover.
  4. Plug the power cord back in.
  5. Reinstall the ink cartridges.

How do I change the toner?

The Fax-2480c does not use toner cartridges.
This is an inkjet and so uses ink cartridges.

There are 4 cartridges, black, yellow, cyan (blue) and magenta (red). If any of these cartridges are empty, you need replace them.

This machine takes LC-51 cartridges.
You're probably out of warranty so jsut get refills... it's cheaper

Changing ink cartridge

Here is how to get the ink cartridges to move to the changing position on the R320.

1. Press the paper jam/ink button on the printer control panel.
2. A menu comes up. 1st item is ink cartridge replacement. Press
OK button.
3. Another menu with ink cartridge replacement. Press OK button.
4. Thats it, ink cartridges move to the changing position. Change your cartridge as you normally would and follow prompts on screen to finish process.
