KDF-E42A10 connection Issue

Hi -
I'm having an issue with connecting a PS3 through the HDMI port on a KDF-E42A10, from a working PS3.
I saw that you recently offered some advice on an HDMI connection issue with a KDF-E42A10 set. Your initial recommendation was either a software upgrade or a card replace, but I wasn't able to see where those steps were located. Would you please direct me to where I can find that information?

I appreciate any assistance you can provide.
JT

When I use the HDMI connection the picture goes in and out intermittedly.

The problem I have is when I select, video6 (HDMI) where my ps3 is connected, on the external inputs menu the TV freezes. I then have to shut down the TV and unplug to reset it. The problem is persistent but not always present.

PS3 wont display using HDMI ports and Input connection on PT-52LCX66

It would seem either a setting at the ps3 or the set is not right.

Good idea to check all inputs and setup again--if something like a DVD works on rear input issue is with the PS3.

I have a sony wega KDF42WE655 TV(42 inch). It has a HDMI port I recently bought a PS3 and hooked it up to the TV. With the HDMI port connected I do not get any picture or sound. Attempts of rebooting...

There is a separate IC on the main board that does nothing but process the HDMI signal, basically if your using the cable, AVI or any other input other than HDMI and chances are that is bad, it can be replaced if you have a lot of electronic experience, its a $3 chip but its not easy to replace..I would replace the main board if you can find one, sometimes main boards are hard to find..below is a link to the service manual.

When I hook my ps3 up to my Sony Bravia tv it comes up invalid format. Any suggestions? But doesn't do that when I hook it up to other sony

Disconnect any SCART leads.

  1. Connect your HDMI lead to your TV HDMI 1 port and PS3.
  2. Now turn OFF your TV, then turn OFF your PS3
  3. Now wait 15 seconds.
  4. Now turn on your TV and follow this carefully......
  5. Now press and hold the "ON" button on your PS3 until it cycles at least once.
  6. Wait 2 seconds and it should handshake properly and make the connection.
I had the same issue, was a pain until I saw the solution on another site.

Colours turns blue and green from HD channels

The most likely cause of your problem is the cable box HDMI output. If you have some extra cables, try connecting the TV to the cable box using the component connections. I'll bet your problem will go away. Don't let the cable company lie to you; I work on Sony TV's everyday and see plenty of cable box HDMI issues. Some of my customers have exchanged their boxes 4 or 5 times and still have HDMI issues. Your best bet is to use the component outputs or switch to Dish or Direct TV, as they DON"T have HDMI problems. If this solution works, be sure to rate it. Thanks!

I had the same issue. I think you have to reset your PS3. I don't remember how I fixed it but I did find the anwser in the PS3 user manual "Trouble Shooting".
