I have purchased a kenmore Front-Loading washer model #796.4044. The instructions state that I can mix some colour safe bleach in with the high efficiency (HE) detergent. Is there such a thing as HE color safe bleach or do I just use the regular color safe bleach?

Samsung does not recommend the use of chlorine bleach in this machine. The bleach port is intended for color-safe bleach only. Chlorine bleach is an oxidizer that will accelerate the corrosion process of the drum, which is what you are probably seeing. The users guide for your machine states specifically that you SHOULD NOT put liquid chlorine bleach into the bleach port.

IF the instructions advise against using bleach in that machine then it is probably because the bleach will affect certain parts / rubbers of the machine and will lead to costly repairs if used.. Try a bleach free soil remover like nappy-san or vanish pink in conjunction with a liquid detergent rather than a powder detergent

It should be okay to use dry bleach, if you follow the instructions on the bleach. Some bleaches require dissolving in water first, others can be used dry.

Mix one ounce OxiClean powder with your powdered detergent in the detergent dispenser of your front loading washing machine.

OR

Dump one ounce OxiClean powder into the washing machine before you add clothes.

I have the same issue, but with the mainwash compartment

This can be accomplished by running the washer empty for a quick rinse cycle. Add an entire cup of bleach at the start of the cycle. The bleach is effective at destroying organisms, such as mold and bacteria. However, running it once will not be completely effective. I suggest pouring another cup of bleach into the wash tub, after the cycle has completed. This will leave bleach as the standing pool and should prevent the growth of mold or bacteria. However, if you do this, before doing a load of laundry you should run an empty rinse cycle again, to avoid damage to the clothes from the bleach left standing in the wash tub.

Remove the tray and check the proper operation of the solenoid for the door.

all kenmore named washer will have 110 as first 3 digits of model #..the he washers are usually good washers..like all front loads they have their quirks ..if you read reviews from other consumers they indicate problems ..most of which are easily remedied by reading owners manuals..mold /mildew usually a bleach clean every few months ..vibration need real solid floor..oversuds use HE detergents only..just a matter of changing mind set from top loads with 25 gals of water each fill to a front load with 5-6 gals each fill..top load with 750-850 rpm spin speed to front load 1000-1200 rpm ..if willing to learn proper use and what to expect they can best investment..just don't let opinions of those unwilling to adapt affect your decision

all front loads all brands have same issue with mold people today tend to use less bleach CHLORINE BLEACH that is ..allow machine to fill with hot water normal wash pour 2 cups CHLORINE BLEACH in water allow to wash a few min to mix open door and with cloth wash inside of door gasket be sure to roll gasket back and wash underneath lip allow to finish complete cycle should remove most of mold try to this every few months..also leave door open between use to allow moisture to dry out as much as possible like i said YOU ARE NOT ALONE
