I have had the same problem with our HP3030 of low memory and fax stops sending. A local Company told me the 3030 isn't really meant to be sending large volume faxes, although I have sent 80 to 90 pages previously in one fax.
When this problem started, we searched for any new Printer Drivers for the 3030 from the HP website and reloaded the Printer driver with the new Driver.
Every now and then this LOW MEMORY error returns and the Send Fax programme stops working. So I just switch everything off, including the computer and then reboot and start again.
It happened recently when I was sending a 60 page fax and would then only send a max of 30 pages, so I sent my fax in two halves. But since then I sent a 40 page fax with no problem. I think just try reloading drivers and then if it happens, switch off and reboot the computer. It seems then to forget it had a problem. Hope this helps as I really know nothing about computers.

Try reading these:

General fax problems
Issue Cause Solution The document stops feeding in the middle of faxing. The maximum length of a page that can be loaded is 381 mm (15 inches). Faxing of a longer page stops at 381 mm (15 inches). If no jam exists and less than one minute has elapsed, wait a moment before press Cancel . If a jam exists, remove the media. If the item is too small, it can jam inside the automatic document feeder (ADF).

(HP LaserJet 3015 all-in-one) The minimum paper size for the ADF is 74 x 105 mm (2.9 x 4 inches).

(HP LaserJet 3030 all-in-one and HP LaserJet 3380 all-in-one) The minimum page size for the ADF is 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 inches). If a jam exists, remove the media. The fax activity logs or fax call reports are printing at inappropriate times. The fax activity log or fax call reports settings are not correct. Print a configuration report and check when the reports print. Set the appropriate log or report printing times through the control panel or the HP Toolbox. The volume for sounds that the device emits is too loud or too soft. The volume setting needs to be adjusted. Set the appropriate sound volume settings through the control panel. Fax send troubleshooting Use the information in the following table to solve problems that might occur when sending faxes: Issue Cause Solution Faxes stop during sending. The fax machine to which the fax is being sent might be malfunctioning. Try sending to another fax machine. The telephone might not be working. Do one of the following:

  • Turn up the volume on the device, and then press Fax/Send on the control panel. If a dial tone is heard, the telephone line is working.
  • Disconnect the device from the jack in the wall, and then connect a telephone to the jack. Try to make a telephone call to make sure that the telephone line is working.
A communication error might be interrupting the fax job. Change the redial-on-communication-error setting to On.

Outgoing fax calls continue to be dialed. The device automatically redials a fax number if the redial options are set to On. Press Cancel to stop the redials while the device is dialing.

To cancel a pending fax job, see "Canceling a fax job" in the electronic Users' Guide on the product CD-ROM.

See "Changing the redial settings" in the electronic Users' Guide on the product CD-ROM. Faxes that are sent are not arriving at the receiving fax machine. The receiving fax machine might be off or might have an error condition, such as being out of paper. Call the recipient to make sure that the fax machine is on and ready to receive faxes. The originals might be incorrectly loaded. Make sure that the original documents are correctly loaded into the automatic document feeder (ADF) input tray or flatbed scanner (not available with the HP LaserJet 3015 all-in-one). A fax might be in memory because it is waiting to redial a busy number, other jobs that are ahead of it are waiting to be sent, or the fax is set up for a delayed send. If a fax job is in memory for any of these reasons, an entry for the job appears in the fax log. Print a fax activity log and check the Status column for jobs that show a Pending designation. All of the numbers of a long fax number cannot be dialed. The maximum number of digits of characters that can be entered into a fax number is 50. Try manually dialing the fax number. Faxes that are sent include a block of gray shading at the end of each page. The original may be on the flatbed scanner (HP LaserJet 3030 all-in-one and HP LaserJet 3380 all-in-one only), with the glass-fax size set incorrectly. Make sure the setting is correct. See "Changing the default glass-size setting" in the electronic Users' Guide on the product CD-ROM. Faxes that are sent have data missing from the end of each page. What does NG mean for Status after sending a scanned item or faxed item?

Hi,

Hi,
I can advise you on the 'memory full' problem, mate.

If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning the first page of a fax, press Stop to cancel the scan. If you get a MEMORY FULL message while scanning in a subsequent page, you’ll have the option to press Start to transmit the pages scanned
so far, or to press Stop to cancel the operation. In this case, send the fax by the Manual Transmission.
Depending on your typical faxes, MEMORY FULL errors can occur frequently. If this happens, change the Memory Transmission setting back to OFF.

Thanks.

Remote fax error when sending a fax

Does it only happen going to one certain fax destination or every destination? There are some things to try on the Lexmark web site.

Go to www.lexmark.com and click Support->Technical Support. Type in 4270 in the 'Search by Model' box. Type in 'Remote fax error' in the 'Search the Knowledgebase' box. There is a topic called 'Problems Sending a Fax to Specific Fax Machines' that has some good general tips.

Memory Sending

~When sending one page, does the display indicate usage of any memory ? If it does then it is merely a feeder problem. If you open up the front flap (the whole panel holding all the number keys and display it hinges forward) you will see to the rear of the machine two rubber rollers - the rubber 'goes off' after a bit - it either dries out/ perishes or gets dirty. You can try cleaning these with a slightly damp rag (avoid paper towels/ fluffy cloths). However, if they have gone past their use by date you may have to consider replacing your machine (unless a proficient engineer can replace them for less than the cost of a new machine). Whilst the front flap is open, below the lower of the two rubber rollers is a glazed screen which houses the scanner. Run you finger across the glazed area and see just how much dirt is being scanned across each of your pages being sent - you might be surprised!

In the meantime, this is not an unusual situation - but do you really have to send 80 pages of fax (5 - 20 I can understand)? The risk of missing one page (and it being a crucial one is too great). However, my L350 will not pickup following pages and is much happier sending single pages only. The only solution, I am afraid, is for you to stand over the fax and feed one page in after another, just as the previous one leaves the input tray. You can keep an eye on how many pages have actually scanned and if it matches up with how many you have fed through by keeping an eye on the page count on the machine's display.
Can't offer a better solution i am afraid. hope this helps tho.

Hi, Remote Fax Error being displayed

As some fax machines are not capable of receiving color faxes, legal size faxes, or faxes at 200x200 dpi resolution, make sure you are sending an A4 or letter size (not legal size) page at standard resolution:
Press the Black button for a black-and-white fax. Press the Quality button to check the selected resolution.
Make sure the All-In-One has enough memory free when you want to save the scanned documents into memory before sending the fax. Please refer to the following document: Click here to link to the relevant document.
Note: The scanned documents will only be saved in the memory before the whole fax is sent if the Scan Before Dial option is turned on. (This is the factory default.) Up to 50 black-and-white fax pages can be stored in memory at standard resolution when there are no pending faxes in the queue.
Turn off the Scan Before Dial option by pressing the following keys on the operator panel:
Press the Fax button, then press Options 15 times to get to ADVANCED FAX mode.
Press Select.
Press Options nine times until SCAN BEFORE DIAL appears on the LCD display.
Change the setting from Yes to No using the + (right arrow) button.
Press Select.
Note: The Scan Before Dial option controls whether a document is scanned before a call is dialed. This parameter only applies to a mono fax that uses either 200x100 or 200x200 resolution. Higher resolution mono faxes and all color faxes are scanned after the call is dialed and the receiving machine's capabilities are known.
Lower the fax transmission speed to 14400 or even 9600 bps, as some older fax machines are not capable of receiving a fax at a high speed. To do so:
Press the Fax button, then press Options 15 times to get to ADVANCED FAX.
Press Select.
Press Options 10 times until MAX SEND SPEED appears on the LCD display.
Change it to 9600 BPS using the - (left arrow) button.
Press Select.
Turn off ECM (Error Correction Mode) by pressing the following keys on the operator panel:
Press the Fax button, then press Options 15 times to get to ADVANCED FAX.
Press Select.
Press Options 11 times until ERROR CORRECTION appears on the LCD display.
Change the setting from On to Off using the + (right arrow) button.
Press Select.
Note: Turning off this option makes it possible to receive a fax when the receiver fax machine does not support certain error correction modes. The X6100 Series only supports 1-D MH encoding with the error correction. Fax transmissions without ECM and other ECM types can result in bad quality on the received page.

Sending Faxes

When the last page of your document has been sent successfully, the machine beeps and returns to Standby mode. When something goes wrong while sending your fax, an error message appears on the display. If you receive an error message, press Stop/Clear to clear the message and try to send the document again. You can set your machine to print a confirmation report automatically each time sending a fax is completed. If you get the error message write it down it should always supply an error message if the fax did not go through.
