I have inherited an old Kenwood Chef mixer...I am unsure of the model but it is probably 30 years old, is white and the cover for the blender is blue. It was made in Australia, Elizabeth SA. I have only used it 4 times...it worked perfectly. This was the first time it hasd been used in a while. Today I went to use it and it worked. I turned it off and it would not work. I unscrewed the part where the beater is inserted, gave it a clean and when reassembled it worked again for a few minutes before sounding quite sick, slowing down and then stopping altogether. I am not sure if the internals just need a good clean or if the motor has gone. Any ideas on where this may be repaired in Adelaide, Australia? Costs for this. Kind Regards Tanya Welden

Can't refer you to a dealer there but it is likely that only the motor's brushes need to be replaced. This isn't a difficult DIY job and the brushes shouldn't cost more than ~ $20 US.
You could also remove the housing covering the motor and see if the commutator is visible. This is a segmented copper cylinder and shouldn't be completely blackened although some signs of black is normal. The brushes ride on this cylinder and if the brushes have become too short, it can cause arcing and smoke. Clean that surface before installing new brushes and they too may smoke and cause rough running until they are worn in. The brushes can be had many places so you will have to choose one convenient to you:

Have a 20 plus year old Kenwood chef [navyblue and white] don't know the model number. When the K beater or whisk are attached they rotate for a few seconds then fall out any ideas what to do

for both attachments to fall out the planet hub must be worn out. check that there is a spring clip in the groove of the beaters. if you have had it repaired recently it may be running backwards which woluld eject the attachments.

Kenwood Chef A701A Blender needs new shaft seal

It uses a different thread = turn clockwise to undo - not the normal turn ccw to undo and the nut is attached to the 2 blades.

Kenwood Chef Excel smells like smoke

It is most likely a burnt out capacitor. They can be replaced for about £30, but it is not a DIY job unless you know a qualified electrician, there is soldering involved!
