SOURCE: will a diesel 360-3 mic ork on a galaxy dx99v

  • Hi, I can help.

  • The Diesel Electronics CB will work but you have to wire it as stated below.

  1. #1 Shield and Black - Ground
  2. #2 Yellow - Audio
  3. #3 White - Transmit
  4. #4 Red - Receive

  • I don't know if anyone before you has re-pined that mic or not so if you just remove that little Philips screw at the mic connector and then give it a quarter turn you can slide the connector out and take a look and compare the wiring. The actual numbering for the pins on the Galaxy 4 pin mic connector is as indicated below in the diagram. As you look at the mic tip make sure the indent on the mic is as it is the diagram.

SOURCE: Galaxy dx99v cb radio

I see no one has responded to your question. The reason may be that the information is a bit vague. The are a lot of reasons a radio won't receive. In the Galaxy 99, the mic doesn't have to be connected to receive a signal so that illimates the mic possibilities. I have found that in some of the Galaxys I have worked on, that the if section ( thats the section near the pll chip, has cold solder joints ( broken solder connections to the pc board ). You may want to look real close at the pc side of the board with a magnifing glass and see if you can find any electronic components ( resistors, transistors. etc ) loose. Good Luck

The RK56 was a good mike until Telex bought out Turner many years ago. Now the audio output is lower than it used to be & it's not a compatibility issue as Galaxy radios have microphone amplifier circuits similar to most other CB & 10-Meter radios. You'd have been better off buying an Astatic 636L or even a generic noise-cancelling mike instead. The only thing I can recommend is to hold the mike on your cheek, close to but not directly in front of your mouth, with the grille facing it & speak in a louder than usual voice.

SOURCE: Galaxy dx99v, bad squeal when I key the mic

Your microphone wires may be shorted take the mic plug apart (small screws) Now check for frayed wires touching or twisted together!
With the wires being resolderd or taped apart put back together
with the U pointing downward you shout have :
Right corner bottom Sheild ground!
Left corner bottom Black recive
Right corner top White or yellow this is Audio wire
Left corner top RED Transmit or PTT wire

If wiring looks good the problem is in the Mic take to servicer!

SOURCE: no transmit on a

Meter.......... oh that was to little effort.
Check the mic a broken wires/solder connection in the cord are often the most common problems. Bad mic switch?
If no luck with that pull speaker side bottom cover. Notice on back end inside of radio 3 square, black, 3 legged transistors. Which mounted to case they should not be cracked or discolored. The far left one is a predriver this would stop all tx the other 2 are finals which would just degrade power. After checking this check resistors for discoloration. A cold solder joint can act as a open connection notice the color of the solder on the other side of board a dull color to the solder is a indicator. If you suspect a cold solder press down with care and a nonmetallic tool in that area with power on and radio keyed while watching meter.
Finals can and do fail when over stressed by power modifications make to these 40 watt radios.

Although you have a aging rig Jul-2006 Stopped Production that has electrolytic capacitors that dry and leak these units can be very durable if they have not sat unpowered for long periods.
Hope this helps

TURN DOWN THE DEAD KEY ON A GALAXY DX99V

you must have a watt meter to do this correctly. turn vr 16 which is your low power and vr13 which is your high power.Adjust these to bring down your DK and vr 14 to bring up your modulation. if you want it lower you have to get into the radio and if you don't have the proper equipment you cannot do it , also you must be a qualified tech to go much further.

Frequency counter displays two digets high from hump on fine clarifier adjestment on usb.27.186 insted of 27.185. also in am mode shows dead on with clarifer hump until mic is keyed thin dropes from 27.185...

Turn that fine clarifier a 1/4 turn or so to the right. I own a Galaxy DX99V and sometimes if that clarifier is just right it will drop down a hundredth of a MHz just like that when the mic is keyed. Your radio is just fine. Just adjust that clarifier a tad. The Galaxy DX99V is one of the best radios out there. I love them. -73-
