I have Mavica CD-350. All of a sudden when I attempt to format a new disc or re-format over an old one, the format process gets to the end and then beeps with the message "format error" After that the disc is basically trash and it won't do anything. Also, thinking it was my camera, I purchased another one and still get the exact result. Please assist. Thanks,

The camera may display a FORMAT ERROR if the inserted media is not formatted or if the media was formatted on a computer. This error may also display if the inserted media is not supported by the camera.
Please make sure that you're using either CD -R disc which does not require formatting or CD -RW disc.
If you're using any other discs like CD +RW, CD+R may arise the error message.
If the issue persists with a new different CD -R disc, service may be required for the Camera.

Need drivers for Mavica MVC-CD400 digital camera. My idiot ex threw away the disc when our old XP recognized it way back when. I have a new Windows 7 PC and I can't connect my camera. Can you help?

As your camera records direct to CD you clearly don't have the option to use an external card reader, and as the recording is in a proprietary format few CD drives will read the information.

You can download the software for your model for free from here. Don't expect Win7 drivers though as the model has long been discontinued and is unsupported by Sony, but you can try running Win7 in compatibility mode.

I hope that you have found my reply to be relevant and useful; if so, please take a moment to rate my answer.

Sony CD Mavica MVC-CD400

I think you have to Finalize the disc before you put it into your computer. After you save all the pictures to your computer, if it's a CD-RW, you can format it -which will erase all pictures on the disc. Then you can use it over and over again. If you haven't already bought a bunch of cheep CD-R discs, I recommend getting a package of 3 or 4 CD-RW discs instead. They are more expensive but they last longer and you can be way more organized with them. I hope this helps.

Here is a link that really helped me out with my Mavica,

Sony mavica trouble reading discs

Hey jadyjo,
You need to format the floppy disc by selecting file, then disc tool, and then format in the menu system. Instructions on how to do this are on page 52 of your user manual. Remember that formatting the disc will erase any images on it even protected ones. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Disc error 13:01

It comes when Disk not being recognized. I had the same camera before. You need to use good quality CDRs or CD-RWs. Usually Sony Mavica disks best with that camera. Maybe you cannot find Mavica in market then go for Sony, Philips, Imation miniCDR/W. also keep the lens of the internal CD writer clean. If you need further assistance please post your question

Disc Error

I had a similar problem, I was able to view the images on the camera but could not download them to my computer. I have an external cd drive, HP CD writer plus. This drive does not require me to finalize my CDs in order to download my pictures. With the damaged CD, I used a piece of software called BADCOPY to recovery the files(pictures) on the CD. I was able to recover all but one picture from the damaged CD. (I tried using the cd drive on my pc and the recovery software did not find anything, I had to use the external drive)
