Stand by/timer light flashes red television will not turn on

My Sony Trinitron model number is KV-35540. The red "standby/timer" blinks at the same rate consistantly and the television won't go on.

  • moonmagic555 Jul 19, 2008

Sorry, my eyes aren't as good as they use to be...

    KV-35S40

  • moonmagic555 Jul 19, 2008

Myself and two other people tried to notice a set of blinks but could not. It blinked about 1 blink per second with no pause, not even a slight pause. We timed for 60 seconds and came up with 57 blinks...does this mean anything?

  • moonmagic555 Jul 19, 2008

I think the blink set is 3, slight (almost unnoticable) pause, 3, slight pause, and so on.

  • moonmagic555 Jul 19, 2008

    how about every three blinks?

I will need to know the model number of your set to help you as well as if the light blinks a certain number of times in between pauses. Please respond to this same post.

KV-35540 isnt a valid sony model number, from any models I am aware of. What contry was the sony made for? so I cant really help untill I know the correct model number.

That model should be blink a error code in between a slight pause. Its hard to notice but it should blink a set rate pause briefly then continue that cycle.

The only codes that register for your model is 2, 4 or 6 , but I am checking further as they may have changed chassis during the model based on serial number as sony is famous for doing that. I will reply as soon as I can locate some more info for you.

Our Trinitron KD-27FS170 Tv will not turn on. It sounds like it is turning on/off but no picture or sound. The Stand-by/Timer red light is flashing 4 times, pause, then 4 times, etc.

This typically means you have a bad capacitor, you can inspect for any swollen or bulging capacitors however unless familiar with desoldering boards best leave it to a repair technician.

I try to turn it on but it just blinks on stand by

Probable Lamp. If lamp hasn't bown the red Lamp Lite won't flash but other lamp issues cause stby timer light to continue flashing. If stby red lite is flashing, count the no. of times flashing - could open thermal fuse (6X flashing)

Red light flash timer stand by

Please count standby light blinks and let me know.
There would be pause of 3 seconds in blinks.
Also confirm is it Sony KP-57HW40 model?

When you turn the tv on the red light on the front(stand by/timer)flashes and the tv starts to come on and then it turns off.

Do you mean the screen turns on briefly or the stand by light just keeps blinking. If the tv turns off after switching on then it probably means a protection circuit fault. Also please provide me the number of times it blinks before it pauses. Awaiting your resposnse.

Sai.

Sony Trinitron Color TV KV-35V65 - No Picture, red light stand/by timer flashing

A reset won't fix this. The standby light should be blinking a repeated count with a 3 second pause inbetween. Post that count here. That will indicate the circuit/condition that is preventing the set from turning on.

Thanks,
Dan

Tv flashing stand by / timer

Sony tv's have a myriad of problems that prohibit the High Voltage from activating. The flashing red light indicates the standby circuits are functioning correctly. You problem lies in the H>V section.A shorted horizontal output transistor or even poor connections on the horizontal drive transformer could cause this problem. To properly diagonose this problem,it must go to a service facility that is familiar with Sony servicing. Usually Sony repairs are not cheap. It is imperative that only Sony original parts are used.
