////my insignia NS-LTDVD26 turns on but has no light. What I mean is you can vaguely see the picture faded but it isnt lightingthe picture up to view. What can I do?

First try setting your contrast and brightness. It's a balancing act so you'll work with, but put more on the contrast. Also if you have access to a user friendly picture adjustment work with it. That increases the amplitude going to your color guns and your color temperature. If these are not on the set itself take you remote and hit menu and brouse the menu for control of these functions. Hue is an important function, it mixes red and green to get facial tones true. I hate to tell you this part, that's why I saved it for last. What you described it a good sign of the screen wearing out. It's the same thing that happens ocassionally in TVs with CRT Tubes. Hope the adjustments fix it, DanGill

I installed a new color wheel in my RCA 50inch DLP TV but now the facial tones are now purple. I believe I need to somehow index the wheel using a service menu but do not know how to access it. The TV...

This might help ,the Fix for Pink Picture on another Set was to replace the Formator Board and the DVI Cable .
Formator Board PN# 263247
DVI Cable PN# 263254
The way to Enter Service Menu for most RCA is to turn TV off, Then Press and Hold at same Time
CH- and Vol- wait untill TV turns on then release and Service Menu should come up.
Encompass Parts Distribution 1-800-638-3328 they might have the Parts you need.

I have a HL-P6163W, hooked to dish network hd

Fire the TV Tech! Your problem is the adjustment to the color wheel timing. To correct this: With TV OFF -> on remote, press MUTE, 1, 8, 2, POWER. The TV will come up in service mode: ( Left / Right arrow keys for item selection, Up / Down to change values, Menu to return to previous menu, Power to exit Service Mode)

Enter the submenu of item 1. DDP1011. Now, adjust item 4. INDEX DELAY to correct the "clay facing" problem you are having . Default value is 47.

You should have a "problem" image paused to check you work if possible. I hope this was of some assistance, best wishes.

There is a humming sound that is not coming thru the speakers

Your color wheel is failing. This will be eveident if you change your video inputs and you hear the tone of the hum change when the picture goes from light to dark

My tv, just shut off! the screen does not turn on, and makes a squealing noise! what is wrong?

That is the classic case of the color wheel going out on you. The color wheel has ball barrings that tend to break and cause friction within the wheel. It'll start squealing loudly when it becomes stuck. Before it broke, did you notice the color going out or a fuzzy picture with poor skin tones? That's the color wheel!

My picture keeps changing colors and images are shifting around on the screen. Example is say there is a person on theTV picture, well it will glitch and move part of his face to to oppostie side of the...

Do you hear any strange noises when the color is shifting? If so then the possibility is the color wheel is failing. The color wheel failing after a few years is not so uncommon. The unfortunate part is you would need RCA part number 212184 for the color wheel and it is no longer available. The complete light engine is the only thing that appears to be available and that part number is 261589. I would have a technician look at the TV to verify my findings. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you...

Samsung DLP Facial Colors off after changing color wheel

Do you mean that red and blue are reversed? If so, you may need to remove a jumper, see end of linked article. Pinkish-yellow or orange sounds like a good description of skin tone, but perhaps too intense. If the color is too intense, can you just lower the color level with the color control? Or can you just change the tint with the tint control? Otherwise, see http://www.jangro.com/electronics/samsung-dlp-replace-color-wheel/ including the comments at the end.

Brightness and color

It really depends on what YOUR eyes are pleased with - if 50 looks good to you, that's where it should be. It seems like you might be afraid of messing up something - don't worry, you can't hurt the TV by adjusting the customer controls :-) You might try a little experimenting - kicking them up to 75 might give you a brighter and more pleasing picture. I've been a TV technician for years, and I generally like the brightness and contrast up almost to the maximum (I like a bright picture as opposed to a "warm" one), with the color and hue adjusted for an accurate reproduction of facial tones. But the bottom line is what YOU want - feel free to experiment, you can't hurt anything as long as you don't start taking out screws :-)
