Somebody put a pin on my gps and now i dont know the pin because somebody just gave it to me

There is no way to perform a master rest to clear the PIN. You either have to have the PIN number or contact Garmin to unlock it for you for a fee. I would first try turning the unit on where your brother lived or where he worked and the unit will not ask for the PIN. This is called the safe location. You can then change the PIN. He probably set the PIN at some place where he knows well.

You will need to contact garmin or remember your fav place i.e. where it was locked and it will unlock automatically at those gps co ordinates

Find the guy.. he has to give you a working unit, or he ripped you off.
Or try looking up the Users Manual on line, and find out how to reset it without knowing the pin code. (I'm not sure on this one)
I never touch my setting on Security or Reset... it can trap you. But if you lose things easily, then better set it up; cause the finder can drive to ALL your locations you got in the system.
For SURE - DO NOT put your home address down for your HOME DATA or you will have a thief visiting you before you know it.

I don't know how much use it will be to you but every bit of information there is on removing garmin pin numbers is there.

The only way you can register that gps is have the original owner call Garmin and have them release it from his account, otherwise you could not use it or get it registered..... all Garmin GPS are registered to unlock maps....and all have a SECURITY FEATURE in them in case of lost or stolen.

1.- Power off the GPS
2.- Press and hold the reset button
3.- connect the N?vi to an EXTERNAL power source

You can't. Each PIN code has been entered manually by the original user and cannot be reset except by the owner. Contact Garmin, and if the unit was registered, they will be able to trace to the original owner.

Correct. When setting the PIN the user is warned to either remember it or the secret location where it was set - as the GPS will unlock there. This renders a stolen GPS useless.
