    Hello -

I have the same issue with my Fujitsu laptop and I understand that the thinking is a bad pixel sensor. The difference with me is that the thin blue vertical line is only seen at the desktop and some internet pages, but not seen when open Word Docs or Excel pages are there. It is also not seen at the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

Would a bad pixel sensor at the edges of the laptop's screen not show the line on the toolbar or open Doc's and the like?

    Thanks for your time.

This is a bad pixel sensor. Your screen has hundreds of vertical and horizontal pixel sensors on the edge, if one goes out on either end it causes a dead pixel line through the screen. Unfortunately, the only way to fix it is to replace the screen. If you can live with the annoyance, I've seen screens last for years with a pixel line without any other problems.

This could spread, and then again, it may stay just like it is. There's no way of knowing. It's one of those "time will tell" situations.

Vertical line

Run diagnostics on the system, will determine if that is a hardware issue or something related to drivers.
For drivers - obvious first choice is to download the latest drivers from support.dell.com and upgrade
For hardware - you will need the LCD to be replaced, for the lack of other smaller parts you can't order from Dell.
Before you determine hardware, go thru the system teardown documentation and reseat all the LCD parts / cables (usually fixes the line issue, without replacement)

Thin vertical blue ink bleed line from bottom of Malaprop screen - Fades over time

Hello,

Yes, it's a screen problem. It could be a loose connection of the LCD and the motherboard or the lid lights gone bad. You can fix that by either resetting the connection of the screen and the motherboard or replacing the whole screen. You would need a technician to do that.

Why can i only see the top 1/5 of my screen on my dell inspiron laptop? the bottom 4/5 is white with many light green/blue vertical lines. computer seems to be working fine - i can see my screen saver...

A few things you could do to test out this issue.. is if you gave a desktop, try hooking up the screen from the desktop to the port on the laptop and seeing if it looks the same..

If it does look the same, then the issue is with your video card..

If the desktop screen looks normal, then the issue is with your laptops screen and it will need to be replaced

Vertical Lines in Monitor

This is usually a screen problem and cannot be fixed however to verify if this is from the screen or from the video card you can connect a normal monitor to the back output connector of your laptop and check the display on the external screen.

This will tell you if it is the video card on the board or the actual screen. In either case it would be a hardware issue.

Blue screen with rows of white lines (not BSOD) causing laptop crash

A blue screen generally indicates an operating system error or hard drive failure. Start by doing a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the hard drive and install a new operating system. If the hard drive won't format, or you have any issues during or after the install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced. You will need an operating system or recovery disc in order to do this. If this is a preloaded machine that didn't come with any discs, then you will need to acquire the disc.

Blue line on TV screen

Hi

Your TV has a vertical fault. Based on your description, chances are that it is the vertical IC that went bad. It is relatively a simple repair job and any person with basic familiarity with electronic components and circuitry and soldering would be able to do the job. Should you venture to do a DIY please be reminded of the standard safe practices involve when working inside a TV unit.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
