I have a top loading GE washing machine. It has started overflowing.I've taken some of your solutions but none have fixed the problem. I've taken the sensor tube off as it comes off the drum,it doesn't seem to be clogged.I can blow into it and can here a clicking sound coming from the other end up under the control panel. The little box that sits on the side of the drum, can that become clogged and not allow enough pressure from the water filling to turn off the water.

Take the tube off of the water level switch and blow backwards into the tub. Sometimes a bit of debris will get in the water bell and keep air from entering the tube. If that doesn't work then you will likely need a new water level switch.

GE WWSE5200B Top Load Washer does not drain or spin

Jim, we have same problem with Simpson top loader washing machine.
Our repairer eventually diagnosed it as a problem with the electronics but it can't be fixed. So we have a 3 year old machine with good pump , motor, gearbox etc but need to buy new machine now. Yours might be similar problem. Don't buy a simpson. Sorry, this is just what we've been told.

My Machine works fine but has just started to overflow when doing a normal wash...any ideas

THERE IS A WATER LEVEL CONTROL SENSOR THAT IS NOT WORKING. YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A SERVICE CALL BY A APPLIANCE REPAIR MAN TO FIX IT. IT WILL NEED TO BE TAKEN APART TO REPLACE THIS. - -SORRY

GE WSXH208FWW washer leaving spots on clothes

If you are getting round dark spots on your clothes after washing, the problem would be cause by a bearing seal leak. What happens is water leaks pass the seal into the bearings, and the grease leaks back into the wash water. To fix it would require the machine to be literally taken completely apart to get to the bearings. Very costly to repair. Sorry.

My GE washer (modelWBB4500E1WW) overflows about every 3rd or 4th load. It appears to overfill like it doesn't know the level of water. Even when set to small load it can overflow.

Remove the front panel by using a putty knife to depress the retaining clips at the seam where it meets the washer top. (one on each side) Take the thin hose off the lower left side of the outer tub and clean it out. A short cut would be to cut off an inch and a half of it, but that's a one time fix, then the hose starts getting too short. To help prevent re-occourance, run a small hot load with a couple cups of bleach (no clothes) every few months. Make sure to rinse the tub on the largest level to prevent bleach damage to your next wash load.

GE Top-loader Leaks Water from Vertical Tube Behind Tub on X-Large Loads

it sounds like the basket is not locked when it is agitating, if so the water will climb the wall during the wash cycle and leak out of the overflow (which is the plastic tube you described). if this is the case, it is a transmission brake problem. it can be fixed by a professional, but you might want to look into buying a new machine.
