Hello

Once you have the correct Brother Toner for your printer model, power your printer OFF and open the cartridge box.

Next, you need to open the top cover of the printer. You should do this carefully to prevent damage to the interior or exterior of the printer.

Once the printer top cover is removed, you want to extract the empty Brother Toner cartridge from the printer by pulling upward and away from the machine. You should be able to do this without a great amount of force.

After you've taken the Brother Toner cartridge from the printer, you want to prepare the new cartridge for insertion. To do this, you need to remove it from the plastic bag it is contained in. Next, you need to remove the rip strip from the cartridge. The rip strip is attached to a plastic film strip. Removing the rip strip is important because if you don't your printer will only produce blank sheets. Take care when ripping the strip off, as you may get Brother Toner on your clothes which can stain. If you end up spilling toner on yourself you can wash it off with cold water.

Next, you want to place the new cartridge in the printer the same way the old Brother Toner cartridge came out. There will most likely be arrows on the package to guide you in the placement that will help you make sure you're putting it in correctly. Much like removing the used Brother Toner cartridge, it should slide in with minimal force. If it doesn't slide in easily you should make sure that the Brother Toner cartridge is the correct cartridge for your model printer and then make sure that it is aligned correctly.

Once you have the cartridge in the printer properly, put the printer lid back on.

Now you are going to print a few test pages to make sure that everything is working the way it should. If the printouts look good: You are done. Package the old toner cartridge in the box the new toner came in and recycle it. If the printouts look bad: Sometimes cartridges can be defective. If there were problems with your test pages, you may need to try the process again with another toner cartridge.

I change my toner, and i have msg. "ORDER

Must be an aftermarket or refilled toner cartridge. These toner cartridges have a chip on them that must be changed when refilling or remanufacturing the cartridge. It looks like you got a cartridge where the chip has not been changed. I would return it for another cartridge.

Toner light is on on Brother HL-2170 Laser Printer and the computer is not recognizing a print task. Can you help me fix this problem? Also, I just replaced toner a couple weeks ago.

I just replaced the toner cartridge and the Toner LED is still on, or the status monitor continues to display the message "Toner Life End". What can I do?

The yield of the TN starter toner cartridge is approx. 1,000 pages.
The yield of the TN330 toner cartridge is approx. 1,500 pages.
The yield of the TN360 toner cartridge is approx. 2,600 pages.
Approximate cartridge yield is declared in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752(Letter/A4).

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.

1. Verify you installed a NEW, out of the box, genuine Brother toner cartridge (TN360/TN330).

If a toner cartridge from another machine was installed (even if there?s still toner left in the used cartridge) or a starter toner cartridge (included with the purchase of a machine) was installed, the Toner LED will stay on and the message "Toner Life End" would continue to appear on the display.

2. Verify the toner cartridge is installed correctly by following the steps listed below:

a. Open the front cover by pulling the tabs on the left and right side of the printer towards you.

b. Lift the drum unit slightly and pull it out. Place the drum unit on a piece of disposable paper or cloth to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.

c. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the lock lever (blue tab) on the left side of the drum unit and lift the toner out. Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, immediately wash it off with cold water.

d. Gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.

e. Place the toner cartridge into the drum (be sure it clicks into place).

f. Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the blue tab on the top of the cartridge from right to left several times. Return the blue tab to the home position before reinstalling the drum unit assembly.

g. Reseat the drum unit into the printer pressing it in securely.

h. Close the front cover making sure it latches on both sides.

If the Toner LED is still on or the status monitor continues to display the message "Toner Life End" the printer will need service.

The printer has a one year limited exchange warranty. If the printer is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.

If the printer is out of warranty, contact a Brother Authorized Service Center for repair by clicking on the link below:
