Why do my tv screen appears in three sections when i put a dvd disc? it appears normal when i put a vcd!

May be discs is put in wrongly, the VCD.
Car CD put VCD is not sound and reading is normal, because the CD and VCD is a format for encoding, VCD containing video data flow without the corresponding chip can't decode so silent.

Could not locate this model but this may help:

Power up the Player, press pause;
Type in 314159 on your Remote Control's Keypad;
This should bring up the Region Selection Screen;
Select the Region (1-6) that you wish to view on your Remote Control's Keypad, sit back, and enjoy ;-)

Two important features with this player.

Firstly, in addition to the first hack listed above, instead of choosing a Region 1 through 6, you can choose to set it Region 0, or region free. This means you will not need to change it every time you put in a disc of differing regions.

Also, if your TV is not capable of both NTSC and PAL playback, you can adjust the format of the DVD player signal by flicking the System Select switch on the rear of the player. Without changing this, the region free hacks listed above may not display correctly if you are using an older TV


To enable VCD, it works for this model as other LG players:

1. Power on the player with no disc in the drive.
2. Press Pause on the remote control.
3. Using the remote control, key in the following: 1, 4, 7, 2 (the
characters 01 47 should appear on the display) [If your player is a non UK
model, this number will probably be different - don't worry]
4. Press the UP arrow three times (the characters 04 Fd should appear on the
display)
[This number may be different depending on the configuration of your
specific model - don't worry]
5. Press Program, 6, Program, 5 (the characters 04 FE should now be
displayed).
6. Press Enter (the display should flash briefly).
7. Press Return.
8. Power the player off and then back on.
9. Play a VCD!

try to clean or change the laser

You can't burn a DVD movie using a COMBO drive or Compact disc rewriter, change your movie format from DVD to VCD and then try again, I recommend you use nero to make/edit movie and ImgBurn to make ISO image and burn it onto disc.

try cleaning the lens first.then load a disk.try a different disc like VCD, CD etc.if only the DVD's are not read, the lens and the mainboard itself is faulty.but, if after cleaning it, it goes ok ,then its just dirty.

it normally caused by lens getting dirt,,,,first clean the lens with soft cloth then try inserting disc i think the problem will be solved....

Give this a try. Using your user's manual, locate the "Configuring your recorder" section. Under this section there will be "System setup - general" subsection. Being that you are unable to see anything on your tv display you will need to use your manual as your display. Press the "SETUP" key on your remote. Once again using your manual as your display, scroll down to "Restore factory settings" and press "ENTER" As long as you are located in North or Central America and using interlaced video outputs you should have your normal display back.

You have to replace the DVD player. The problem is that parts are not available and it's difficult to open the unit. There are about 20 screws to remove, including four screws hidden behind each fender. You have to pry the fenders and rip them off to break two brackets that hold each fender on. The fenders still hold on fine with the remaining seven tabs on each fender. You have to eject the disc to get the mouth off.

I have a working DVD player for sale. It's from a car TV with a defective picture circuit, but the player runs and I hear the movie soundtrack, so I'm 99% sure it's good. I broke the mouth off the player, but it could be glued back.

If you have a good motherboard for sale with a bad DVD player, I might buy the motherboard from you.

its a mechanical problem from the disc tray section.The disc tray dosnt lap well inside,call your tecnician he will know what to do.

is the dvd a store bought disc or a burnt dvd? If the disc is a store bought disc I unfortunately can't help you. But if the dvd you are trying to play is burned from dvd burner you are most likely using the wrong type of burnable dvd. There are two types of dvd's you can burn, DVD-R and DVD+R. You need to make sure which one you dvd player can play, some play one or the other, some play both. I have also heard of some older ones that can't play any type of burned disc. Hope that helps Peter
