Your card reader on your computer isn't capable of reading SDHC cards. You have to use a card reader approved for SDHC use.

You can only use SD cards. The format is different for SDHC cards.

Ok, so is it possible to update the reader in my computer so that it CAN read sdhc cards?

Please try another SD card as to eliminate the card as the source of the problem. As you mentioned uninstalling and reinstalling the driver in Device Manager you may want to "Roll Back Driver" there as an update could have caused this problem initially and reinstalling the updated driver wouldn't solve it.
Post back your results so that we may continue to help you troubleshoot this issue?
Thanks and good luck.

I have a acer Aspire Ei-571 laptop.I insert a sd card to it's card reader.sd card is a new one there arn't any files in that card. so when I insert the card to the reader I can't open it.so what do I need...

u more than likely need to format it first so your computer can read it.

see if it appears in windows explorer, if not copy a file then right click and send to the SD card and the option to format should appear, format it and this should fix your problem.

My SD card reader on my Sony Vaio will not read the card...it seems to know its in the slot, but won't read any data and says 'insert the SD card' if I go to computer and try to read it. Any thoughts?

Take a can of air and blow some into the slot to make sure dust or dirt isn't getting the way of that reader trying to read the sd cards.

If you still get the same message try another SD card in that reader or try to see if another computer will read your SD card, if another computer will read the SD card and the slot still won't recognize the sd cards properly, then you know at that point the reader is bad. If the reader is bad, thats integrated into the motherboard so the motherboard would need to be replaced.

Aspire 5610z card reader doesnt show up. Vista home premium

Did you ever solved your problem? I noticed the above response is just a spam ad.

I have same problem with Aspire 3680. I recently replaced the HDD and reinstalled Vista Home, all drivers from Acer has been loaded. I even updated the BIOS, updated Vista service packs and all patches.

Sent email to Acer, but of course they want $60 per 1/2 hour. And from the past experience it will take about 2 hours on the phone. Also they have no support forum, and support sucks.

So I'm still stumped. This SD problem with Acer is the only one I couldn't resolve of all brands I've worked on.

Check to see that the SD card is inserted the right way, not upside down.

the bluetooth unfortunately we had to install drivers for the bluetooth to make it work, an auto update will do the trick.

Acer aspire 5920 notebook and the 5 in 1 sd card reader

Open "my computer". The SD should be visible from that window. If you right click on the SD drive and chose "explore" from the drop down list it will open a window so you can access the files inside.
