My freezer clicks (I guess it's trying to do something because the ceiling lights dim a little or brighten when this happens, so I think it's going on or off), but there is no fan noise, and the freezer is not cooling at all.

Motor or compressor keeps clicking on and off and will not get cold and the inside light dims when this happens

I would suggest the compressor and or motor are failing. The reason the interior light is dimming when the relay connects the compressor is a larger than normal demand on the power supply, i.e drawing more current (amps) than it was designed to.

Upright self def. freezer not getting cold

Is your compressor running? Try this: place your hand on top the compressor, quickly-in case it's hot-it should be vibrating and cool/warm to the touch. If it's not running then the cheapest/fastest test is to try a 3in1 start kit from a local appliance shop. The 3 in 1 start should be around $14 to $20 to wire up. It's extremely simple to wire up, just ask the clerk at the appliance shop's parts counter and they will explain it. I hope this helps you out!!! :)

Hi - We've got a Turbo Air TGF-23F mrechandising freezer that freezes - down to -15 and then suddently begins to warm up about 1 degree per minute. In about 15 minutes its just over 0 degrees and...

Did they test the thermostat? I would think that the compressor would kick on before you got that much of a fluctuation, unless the thermostat is not sensing the change fast enough.

The run and start capactiors and relay, did they give you a reason for that? When the compressor kicks on does it surge the power? Light dim or something? It is hard to guess without being able to put an o'scope on your machine to be able to see what it is doing, but just based on what your write-up was, I can't see the parts you said they want to replace will fix the problem.

Freezer light comes on and dim when compressor starts to kick on. breaker trips after compresser runs and squeals for about 1 minute.

See if you have 120 volts at the compressor if you do do you hear any clicking sound at compressor if not replace compressor Start Relay/Overload if you hear clicking sound the compressor may be bad or Start Relay/Overload the only way to know is to replace the compressor Start Relay/Overload. If you do not have 120 volts at the compressor jump out the thermostat you should have 120 volts at the compressor now if not you may have a defrost timer Prob. if this is shelf defrost unit check timer turn knob to see if it starts.

Tries to run but not getting cold. can hear things start underneath try to do something and copper tubes get cold, but doesn't get cold.

Well, unfortunately you arent very specific in your question. Remember, your looking for help online, and if you ask why your freezer wont get cold, which as you might guess is the most common problem with a refrigerator or freezer, you need to give me any and all symptoms you have. be specific. is it cold at all, or a little cold, what noises do or dont you hear, how long has it been this way, did you notice this after something occurred, i.e., you cleaned it, or moved it.

My Zanussi fridge/freezer is making a funny little noise

What you may be noticing is the system going through a defrost cycle. Check the time of the day that you notice this event. If it happens at the same times it could be a normal situation if at all other times normal temperatures are being maintained. A popping sound can be caused by thermal expansion during the defrost.

Freezer's power is dead

check the plug itself may be melted. next check the cord itself at terminations inside the freezer compressor section. if it's plugged into a gfci try resetting the gfci receptacle. check breaker, may have tripped off.
