Sound like you had a power surge that has taken out the invertoer power supply capacitors...these are electrolytic capacitors that will be taken out by surges(it's a veryu common problem)..you can take the cover off the back and look for the power supply board(it will be the one with the ac line cord going to it...look at the cylindrical components on the board to see if they look bloated of have some fluid leaking out of them..this would indicate a bad capacitor...if you don't want to take the unit apart you can take to a shop and have them look at it...note: If you own your home and you have homeowners insurance..it should cover the tv if you had a close lightning strike...just a suggestion

Model dp46841 sanyo 47 inch tv won't power up

Likely a power board issue. Check that capacitors are OK in the power board, and if blown then replace with exact parts. This is a $10 fix, but if it does not work after than then cost go up like replacing the power board completely.

I have a 47 inch sanyo. model# dp46848. A transformer blew in a lightning storm and now the tv will not power on. The power light will come on for 5-10 seconds and then shut off. The tv was on a surge...

But, was the cable/satellite feed protected? Lightning can come in from anywhere, not just the power line. The bad thing about the way cable and satellite installers ground things is, they ground to the same grounding system that the house does, which can backfeed the surge through the entire house - it shouldn't, but it can.

I would, however, contact the maker of the surge strip and attempt to file a damage claim. They all come with a liability warranty of some sort.

Tv keeps turning on and off

You probably have blown capacitors on the PSB-power supply board. Recaping with new UF caps works 90% of the time. The set turns itself of into a fault protection to keep from damaging more components internally. A few bucks a soldering iron some solder should do the trick.

Tv problems

Unplug the three red-blue-green plugs nest to the convergence amps. If the unit powers up and stays on the picture will look bad but will confirm that the convergence amps have failed...
Replacing the amps and one or more resistors in the yoke return will restore the set to normal operation..
Use only Sanyo original Ics..
