Hi,
I do not know whether your camera has an internal memory or not. A model would have helped and i could have given detail instructions. In its absence kindly do the following:
Power on the camera and go into settings. Ususally the method is to go through Menu > Settings. Then explore the settings until you come to date, time, memory area. This is where you can set whether the memory card/stick needs to be formatted. If there is an internal memory then you will see copy and format options. this means that you can copy files from the internal onto your card and also format it if you wish.
Another thing you need to know is that you can tell your camera which memory area to use for storing files. Usually if internal memory is selected, then it needs to be manually switched to external/alternate memory area for storing files.
Go through the manual for detail steps and the manufacturer's website. Otherwise, post your camera model no. here so i can be of more help.
Make sure the hold/lock switch is not engaged - see manual for location - p. 12 to be exact
You may have a corrupt database also - unfortunately there are no firmware upgrades for this model that I can see. So, instead, you will go to the Settings Menu and select Format: Format : Formats the internal memory. Select either <YES> or <NO>. Selecting <YES> will format the internal memory and delete all fi les on the player. Selecting <NO> does not format the internal memory.
Press the MENU and turn it on, as soon as the word RIO shows on the
screen release the power button but do not release the MENU
button until it says upgrading Plug the USB cord to it and install Rio Forge Firmware_120 Turn the mp3 off then on normally Put the music back on your mp3 and it SHOULD be fixed. but your music will be gone..
1. go to http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/r....asp?prodID=213 and download update 1.33
2. install update in C:\RioForge\Flash133
3. run RioForgeFlash_133.exe from C:\RioForge\Flash133
4. press Rio Forge menu button and turn the unit on. "upgrader" will appear on screen.
5. plug USB cable to RioForge.
6. click "next" on Rio Upgrade Wizard. Wizard will detect your player. Select and click "next". Upgrade will take place.
7. Unplug Rio Forge from USB and turn it on.
Voil?!
I know this request is old, but I found it while searching for an answer to the same problem myself.
First you need to go to the Rio site and download the most up-to-date firmware. it DOESN'T matter if it's the same version that you have now, you will need the installer program.
Download that and install it.
Plug in your player to your USB to your computer - BUT (and here's the important part) you need to hold down the menu key while plugging it in. Keep holding until it powers up AND the word "UPGRADER" shows on the screen.
Now, run the firmware upgrade program and it will see your player and upgrade the firmware (yes, even if it's the same firmware version. You have to do this step).
Once it's completed, unplug the player from your computer and the darned thing works.
This process worked for my m25:
1. Download v1.11 firmware file from http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=DigitalAudio
2. With USB cable disconnected, turn off the m25.
3. Press Power while holding Menu button until UPGRADE is shown.
4. Connect m25 via USB cable.
5. Run the firmware downloaded in step 1.
6. Disconnect the USB cable, and the m25 should start a normal.
