This safe was shipped with a factory Master Code of 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8.
If you changed the Master Code you will need to use the code you changed it to.
Deleting your current User Codes:
Input * - * lock will beep twice
input 6-6-6-# lock will beep twice
Input current Master Code - # lock will beep twice
Input user number - # lock will beep twice (not user code, user number is which user number you want to delete 1,2,3,4 or 5)
Re-input user number - # light stays green for 3 seconds
Example: * - * - 6 - 6 - 6 - # Master Code - # - 5 - # - 5 #
This will delete user 5
Unsuccessful code change: five beeps, repeat the steps.
Changing User Codes: Code length can be 3 to 8 digits long
Input * - * lock will beep twice
Input 4 - 4 - 4 - # lock will beep twice
Input Current User Code - # lock will beep twice
Input User Number - #
Input New User Code - # lock will beep twice
Re-input New User Code - # light stays green for 3 seconds
Example: * - * - 3 - 3 - 3 -# - User Code 2 - # - 2 - # -New User Code - # - New User Code - #
That example will change user code 2.
Unsuccessful Code Change: five beeps, repeat the steps.
There are other things you can do with the MSL-500 lock that comes on the MFL-2014E. You can change the master code, activate user codes, change user codes, delete user codes, set single user or dual user modes (dual user modes requires two user codes to be entered each time you want to open the safe, set the time delay.
The Mesa safe company has a website which does have the operating instructions for the MSL-500 electronic lock. A Google search of "Mesa MSL-500 Operating Instructions" would get you there quickly.
However, some units use different methods. Some require seeing a pulse
(i.e., power-ground-power-ground-etc.), resulting in the annoying need
of pushing the e-brake a few times before your video will pop up. This
can generally be recreated by using a 3-prong switch (you can get one
at AutoZone). Connect it backwards -- the ground to power, power to
ground, and the "Load" to the Parking Brake wire on the back of the
radio. Flip the switch back and forth a few times and sometimes the
video will pop up.
Some fancier units cannot be cheated. They use an internal gyro mechanism that detects movement.
Some even feature bypass codes. By pressing a certain
combination of buttons on the remote then entering in a code it will
permanently allow video.
Be good.
Dual DVD
Play Dvd for few seconds until you hear sound
Press Stop Twice
Then enter on remote 26604 the press enter
STEP ONE. Ground the E-Brake wire. No matter which method you use, you must ground the brake detection wire. I suggest you tap it into the ground wire on your wiring harness (ensures a good ground).
FACTORY RESET METHOD (not permanent)
1 Go to the Menu 2 Get to the Settings Menu 3 Select <yes> to Reset to Factory Settings.
Have recently heard complaints of this method not being permanent, as this is needed whenever they want to watch a DVD. Also, radio and screen angle presets are lost.
METHOD 2 AUDIO CD METHOD (Permanent) 1 Insert Audio CD 2 Press PLAY 3 Press STOP twice on remote 4 Enter 26604 on remote 5 Press ENTER 6 Take out Audio CD and Insert a DVD ---------------- METHOD 3 DVD METHOD (Permanent) ** Insert a DVD ** Let it play until you hear sound ** Press STOP twice on remote ** Enter 26604 ** Press ENTER
The blue warning screen should immediately go away after pressing the last digit of "26604." Still press ENTER as a precaution.
The 3rd method seems to work with most of the duals
