I 'm having a similar problem. My Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra has recently stopped working. Everytime I turn it on, it freezes at the EAX screen with the backlight on. And since it never fully boots, my computer is not able to recognize it when I attach it. What can I do? Am I going to lose all my music?I 'm having a similar problem. Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard
mine did the same until i got a new power supply. it requires a 5volt dc pos tip charger with 20 watts. a universal 3-7.5v 2amp charger from radioshack does the trick. make sure the tip is yellow for the charger.
I had a failed JB III that acted the same way. I thought it was the hard drive, but turns out it was the motherboard in the player. I bought a used one on EBAY, then transferred my old HDD to the new one (the JB III uses a standard notebook hard drive).
If you're not worried about losing your songs, you can remove the HDD, get a PATA-to-USB external HDD adapter (less than $10 on sale), and reformat the drive, and test the drive to make sure it's sound. If it is, then you have a new portable hard drive. Unfortunately, your JB III is now an empty shell.
