Visio Plasma TV, VP42 HDTV, had no standby LED, would not power on. Removed back panel and found a blown fuse on power supply board. I replaced the blown fuse on power supply board and also inspected caps for damage, did not find any. I plugged TV into outlet, the LED light came on. When I pushed the on/off button on remote, I heard a pop and the same fuse blew. There is no picture or sound, no power at all. The fuse replaced was T8AH250VP.

SOURCE: Visio p42hd, no picture

Yes it does sound like the mainboard. But we have to confirm. I will see if there is a service manual for this unit in my collection but do you think you can safely work on it? Have you worked on electronics before? The last thing I want is you hurting yourself trying to fix it. HV circuits are not to be messed with unless you know about them.

SOURCE: My Visio VP42 Plasma TV initially had no picture,

hi,
i think ur tvs smps have some problem. just check that fuse replaced by u, is it ok or not. may be any of the mosfet driving the smps faulty. when u replace the fuse some other component( fusible resistor) in that rail may become faulty. remember one thing. the fuse blows only when there is a fault in the board. always check before inserting fuse.
ok

Where is the reset or fuse on the lc391eme tv

The fuse is located on switched mode power supply board. If the fuse has blown the set will be dead no standby led light on front of set also when you plug the set into a power outlet you should hear the relays clicking. if you don't hear the clicking then the fuse has blown or another part of the power supply has failed and will require service.

Does not trun on

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.4_23_2012_3_54_27_pm.jpg

My Visio VP42 Plasma TV initially had no picture, but had sound. Replaced one blown fuse and now there is not picture or sound. Is there some sort of reset required after parts replacement?

Vizio TV does not power on. Tried another known working outlet and known working power cord.

It sounds like the power supply went, if you want to try and remove the rear panel, you can check the fuse on the power supply, and also visually inspect it for any bulged capicators, or burnt components.

LG 42PX4MVH PLASMA TV - Sound but no picture.

You need the ysus board. This is a very common problem with LG's. If it is coming up with the fuse removed you are essentially removing the short from the power supply so that it can come up and deliver other voltages for sound and all. Check out encompassparts.com if you are going to try to repair this yourself. Thanks

Panasonic plasma hdtv will not power on--no blinking LED, simply no LED. Other objects plugged into same surge protector are fine; no evidence or suggestion of a power surge.

The power supply board itself maybe the main problem inside the TV. Or, it maybe something simple like a blown fuse. Replacement fuses can be found at Radio Shack or some other electronic supply store.
If it turns out the TV keeps blowing fuses, the main power supply may need to be replaced. You can find replacements at a good price at Shopjimmy.com

Unfortunately, that board is the inverter board. And for this model the inverter board is only supplied with the the PDP panel. The panel is quite expensive, here's a link if needed:

Generally, if a Plasma Tv is not coming out of standby, it means either the main board is faulty (most likely case) or Power Supply Board is not giving enough power to Main board to switch on the TV. In your case, I think it's the main board (aka Motherboard). Sometimes it's hard to tell to whether ceremic fuses are blown off by looking at them, so it's best to check with a multimeter. Check the fuses in the PSU and also whether it's outputing correct voltages. Also, can you hear a clicking noise right after you've switched on the TV or pressed the power button in the remote to make the Tv go from standby to ON. A clicking noise means one of the boards is shorting out. In your case, I don't think you'd hear a shorting out clicking noise, and I think replacing the Main board will get you out of standby.
